Slaps seems like a good option IMO. Above all, if you can implement a red/green bar like Youtube for messages and/or for threads. That could also replace the Star rating system.
Maybe you should make a poll, but honestly, everybody was max'd out in rep and if you bring it back eventually, everybody will be again. Rep seems pointless these days to me...

What about Lipstick Alley ? They are on VBulletin would you say they don't have the complex features you want us to have? They have THANKS LOL's and GROANS instead of just daps, they have the tagging too.

We are just trying to gauge the reasoning behind this.

What looks like a 'standard' VBulletin website is what most people like. Honestly people come on message boards to give opinions and chat, it's supposed to be a simple process. All these extra things aren't necessary.

it looks better than i thought it would. its not that drastic of a departure. it'll take a week or so to get used to then nobody will miss the old one.

if they have the tagging they better hope they updated it to protect against the exploit.

not sure if i can explain the reasoning any more than i already have. vbulletin development has stopped and xenforo development is just getting started. other than some layout complaints i havent heard any thing else. improving skins and modifying the layout is easy compared to trying to work with code written a decade ago
