It's really sad that you believe your vote matters. National elections are illegitimate. High ranking 'elected' officials are pre-selected. A great deal of money both domestically and foreign sourced are funneled into political campaigns which have way more power and impact than a vote.

This is a new low for you. Congrats!

Until we start intelligently selecting our own candidates and writing our own legislation, voting will have limited impact in our society.
You mean getting money out of politics and implementing campagin finance reform.

No, because we'd still only be choosing from a pool of candidates already pre-selected by the power structure, whose sole purpose will be to work for and maintain said power structure.

Plus even if we had the balls to implement serious campaign finance reform lobbyists and corporations would just find other ways to pay off candidates.

Not tryna be negative I'm just calling it what it is :yeshrug:

Lol @ people who think they're special for not voting

Don't vote and you have no power and never will, sometimes you have to vote for the lesser of two evils. Being complacent is worse then any corrupt politician
LoL @ people who think they have power because they can vote in a corrupt two party system...

You are no better than those who dont vote...You just gurantee yourself the right to complain or take the blame...that is where the extent of your "power" begins and ends...

The system been rigged for decades...you got thounsands of dead folk voting every election season and don't even get me started on the electoral college which nullifies your vote depending on what state you're in...Unless you live in some middle of nowhere shythole swing state your vote isnt impacting a damn thing in the grand scheme of US politics...

The private sector has controlled this country for a while now, I don't even know if you can say from the shadows because lobbyists blatantly change policy for their own gain.

i can see where national elections get the BS wrap because quite honestly your vote really don't mean shyt at that level, but local elections your vote means a ton more. Not voting is idiotic either way.

They been operating in the wide open, fully supported by the politicians and mechanisms of government.

I just don't think people know the real extent to which corruption and exploitation is happening, otherwise there would be violent revolution almost immediately.

I always feel the people that hold us back the most when it comes to voting are those that tell the common man that his vote doesn't matter.

Okay - voting doesn't matter (according to you) now what? How do you change a corrupt system from the outside? How many of you work in DC in a congressman/woman's office, helping them craft legislation? How many of you work for a government entity developing strategic plans? How many of you have any power/reach within your own communities that can change the status quo? You vote to put someone in power that you trust to deal with issues of the legislature that you can't deal with on a 24/7 basis. It's that simple. It's up to you to hold them accountable if they sell you out to private corporations and interests.

Religious fundamentalist don't think voting is pointless.
Multinational corporations don't think voting is pointless.
But for some reason minorities talk themselves out of using their god given electoral power.
