Out here in my damn drawls
When it comes to higher education in the United States, college is absolutely an investment.

You major in basketweaving, art, philosophy, etc. and expect to get a job in today's environment that pays you enough to recoup on your education then you are a moron.

Yeah, that's the current reality of it that. I'm saying that it has to change because it's unsustainable and it's abusive

The cost of education discourages the people who can't afford it and punishes the people who decide to bite the bullet

And yeah, there's plenty of ways to get assistance and ways to offset the expense, but none of that addresses the cost. The same with healthcare

The state truly ain't shyt if they can't those two basic necessities for its citizens :scust:

Young people got mortgages with no guarantees. shyts crazy

Female with degrees from Harvard and Cornell, but can't find a job? :duck:

Sounds like a masters in social sciences or liberal arts student. And anyone that goes to Harvard undergrad and needed to take out a loan with their endowment had hella advantages in life.

I turned down the 60k schools to stay in my home town and go to a state school. I had no money to pay for college and I'm only 12k in debt. With the job I'm starting next month I'll have that payed off by next year.

I feel no sympathy for these over educated cacs

i can get loaned 200K with no job to go to college but if I go and try to get a house or car wit no job, they won't dare approve huh? why is that? sounds like predatory loaning going on.
Bingo! Well said. I just closed on a house last week and it was six months of straight torture getting approved for the mortgage.

The World, but from BK
I'm soooo glad me and my girl are school loan free. I did 2 years at a private college, saw how much I owed and took time off, then ended up graduating doing night school at a city university. I paid put of pocket for the city school and by 30 I was done paying off my loan for the first 2 years....I've recovered since though. Mighta been harder if I had kids.

Being Naive and obsessed with branding leads to these kinds of outcomes.
Both my parents went to PSU and I still didn't really understand the financial implications behind school loans. I can only imagine a person who is the first person in their family to go to school. I knew enough to know that 35k a year was too much for me . I got into Drexel, morehouse, upenn, Harvey mudd and a couple other schools like haverford etc. Parents made too much and the cheapest package I got was for Drexel in the mid 20s
I told all them shyts :salute:waited a semester and went to temple for 12k a year. With grants and schollys I came out owing 20k total. From my high school peers that shyt was a L cause we thought temple was a ghetto school (it's not) a lot of my hs classmates overextended themselves at places like morehouse and upenn. Going for social work or criminal justice degrees and what not. Retrospect is a muhfukka but I feel fortunate that I had the foresight to hedge my education on price and degree.

school is an investment, not a right or privilege. If you choose poorly, and don't position yourself to get a job in a field that will help you pay off and manage your loans, then that's on YOU.
I graduated high school when I was 17, my parent didn't know any better and my guidance counselor a and enrollment counselor gave me bad advice. Before I smartened up I was about to graduate. Luckily through much hard work I'm just ok now.

I make good money but this shyt ain't get paid back anytime soon.

Being the first in my family to go to school it's easy for anyone without guidance to say a 17 year old should know better. Basically I'm paying for what I didn't know when I was 17.

Good thing my kids won't have to go through this.

I owe 15,700 on my undergrad....and 2800 on another semester I took while I was rehabbing from surgery

Im not in too too deep...but got damn I couldve been bad, and Ill be paying these off for a long ass time...i just try my best to budget it in. My parents definitely helped me out....but its a god damn shame what I know a lot of people got into. Some of these dudes REALLY thought they were doing there thing...taking out loans to "be the first from their family to go to college"....getting out with damn near 100K in debt, and can barely find a job

they tricked us :mjcry:
