Don't know if I could walk away from that situation without gunplay. Not even being funny or tough. To have happiness and luck of that magnitude snatched away from you in an instant would drive me to shoot some shyt up

I can't hold that type of an L it's like God and Satan both spreading their buttcheeks to take a monolithic chilidog shyt on you as the world points and laugh . Nah. Nikka I want blood

That's par for the course for jackpot winnings. No they don't want you to win.

That is so so fukked up. There isn't even any legal discourse around it. That ticket is DOA

Yep, casinos et al, look for any way to get out of paying jackpots.

@lotteryplaya is there a legal basis to win his case. even if his son brought the scratcher why does it matter it was still a winning ticket and he has ownership (the father) of it, it's not like a casino where kids can't claim the prize if they win a scratchoff is supposed to be whoever has it and signed it wins.:jbhmm:
It looks really bad for him. Gas stations I go to ask for ID from grandmothers before they buy cigarettes or beer but the lottery a lot of times they try to eyeball your age. The store was wrong not asking for ID but every lottery website and lottery tickets and slip says you must be over 18. Even in the stores most lottery signs and posters have must be over 18 at the bottom. Good luck to them in court but the lottery brings in billions to most states so the courts will not want to piss off the lottery by ruling against them.

A good lawyer would eat this shyt up by saying if the age requirement was that serious to the point it could disqualify you from winning then proof of age should be required at purchase but yet it's not.
It is that serious, and it is required.
The gas station just didn't follow the rules, the same as shady cornerstores that sell Swishers and alcohol to kids.

It's bullshyt...:dahell: granted the 16 yr old brought the ticket and yet who gave him the money....:stopitslime: If anything the 16 yr old can't claim the prize but the adult should right??? :jbhmm:

Yo the family should try finding the person who sold that lottery ticket and look at his/her experience. Was that employee a newbie? Working too many hours that day (overtime)?

Try and nitpick every little thing from that store since it's all you got

They should have the video of you finding the ticket and they will have video of the person who originally purchased it. If that person never complains about a ticket being stolen then you as an adult can claim it. There have been stories of people finding winning tickets in the trash can so the lottery office asks them what time did you buy this ticket and how much did you spend and they have to be honest and say they found that ticket in the parking lot or the trash. Most lottery main offices will still pay the person since the purchaser forfeited the ticket when they threw it away. If its on video they can see this person wasn't robbed by you and it was a case of them overlooking a winner by accident. This is more about the person who was at the counter being under 18. When people give kids lottery tickets as presents the parents have to go claim the winners. An adult relative purchased and the adult parent is turning it in. The minor never spent any money or turned in a winning ticket to get more tickets.

Another crazy part of the story is the kid turned in winning tickets to get more tickets so he technically never purchased anything. Common sense says you can get cash for more tickets but he didn't actually hand the cashier any money. At the end of the day its about the lottery making sure anyone who plays and loses or wins are 18 and over.

and there is the loophole I was referring to... :ehh: I used to get little scratchers as christmas presents... I figured if I won my moms would claim the money since I was underage.

Kids crossing their fingers hoping the parents put that money in a trust and don't spend it all before you turn 18. You cant snitch on the parents for spending too much of your money or the lottery might sue to get back the funds and say it was fraud and the ticket was really for a minor.:lupe: Parents driving around in his and hers Bentleys going through your money like Macauley Culkin's parents.:mjcry:

:mjlol: ......but sadly...:mjcry: those are the breaks... my moms hopefully would set aside a chunk of my money in a trust when I got 18 If I won the money...
