Props to OP and the other dudes posting classics.

Also, just besides how rappers rap, these beats

1) Chief Rocka
2) How Many MC's Must Get Dissed
3) '93 til infinity

Are 3 completely different beats. They are all built up in the same way (a dope azz sample flipped perfectly with really well programmed drums) but Chief Rocka sounds funky, How Many MC's Must Get Dissed is straight up New York City grimey and dangerous and '93 til infitiny has this mellow, west coast, laid back vibe. This was so dope back then, the hits were all different production wise. If you a 16-year old now and you want to make beats you're like 'how do I master doing 808's?' (which is dope, I fukk with Future - but production wise it's very, very similar nowadays).

:mjcry: '93

but dis my shyt
straight... construction tims, yankee fitted, toothpick in ur mouth, head nod music

:mjcry:

I think people eventually went overboard with the headnod shyt and forgot that your shyt had to be hard-hitting funky shyt regardless. "How Many MCs" is a phenomenal beat and song all around. Sure you can nod to it if you want but it's danceable as fukk. You look at all the classic hip hop records, the cream of the crop, and they all light a party up.

so all that faux "true-school" drumless bullshyt that Roc Marciano and struggle new NY rappers are doing can :camby:

I've always said this, but hip hop's biggest downfall was in its production. The beats started falling off hard in the early to mid-2000s. By the late 2000s, shyt was unlistenable across the board. From mainstream to underground.

Blah @ angry NY rappers and their bad teeth. I was on my West Coast steez in grade school. Throw some Cypress Hill, DoggyStyle or Chronic LP tracks in there.

whoa whoa whoa, from the east to the west to down south and mid west, it was ALL good all across the map back then. i'm was a huge west coast fan as well
