I'm with this bein' a myth. Not that fighters weren't intimidated, but they were intimidated for a reason. Along with maybe the most power in the division at that time, he was the best at everything else, except for maybe the jab. He had every punch and delivered them with power & in every combo imaginable. Footwork, defense, ring generalship, chin... there wasn't anything Tyson wasn't good at.Where did I say he didn't have any skills? Of course he did. No one with half an ounce of brains would say that. But you can't deny that intimidation plays a huge role in how opponents will react.
To me a good comparison is Fedor the MMA legend. He had an aura of invincibility combined with legit skills/toughness. But once that aura is shattered it can never be put back together.
Once Cus D'Amato and Jim Jacobs died, that allowed Don to step in and control him. I remember DK convinced Mike, Rooney was a racist and was stealing money from him. Mike technically didn't even fire him, he basically walked away because he saw what DK was doing to Mike. Cus, Jacobs and Rooney truly cared about Mike and guided him successfully. Once they all left, Mike went downhill under the guidance and influence of Don and Robin. It's tough. He was young with little family influence, so no one but himself to look after his best interest. But those decisions were still his. I doubt DK had the power to choose his trainers. And the WORLD tried to tell him Robin Givens was the devil.
But no doubt, he had the potential to be the greatest. Only Ali had a comparable skill set as a heavyweight, IMO, and I'd give it to Tyson.
I agree with all of that. I'm sayin' Tyson was not a kid at this point. He could've & should've made better decisions.Once Cus D'Amato and Jim Jacobs died, that allowed Don to step in and control him. If Mike stayed on track he would be in an entire class of his own ahead of Ali.
One of my favorite Tyson combos
I love () hearing Mike just talking about about the technique of boxing. He can see things with his fighters eye before the average breh

disagree. don has reputation robbing people. i don't blame don for his demise but i blame don for exploitation. that is why you can never trust people unfortunately even your own "brotha" in business or anythingnikkas need to stop blaming don king. Mike Tyson was a grown was man who made his own stupid decisions.
white or black person dont matter vultures everywhere.Very true. But age doesn't always equate to a mature mind.I agree with all of that. I'm sayin' Tyson was not a kid at this point. He could've & should've made better decisions.
