This album is the poster boy for albums that come and go

This pretty much covers it.It didn't matter if he did cause guess what? Nobody really cared about the album outside of the anticipation leading weeks up to it. People moved on after a couple of weeks. So if he wouldn't have put it out it wouldn't have made a difference cause he already got his legacy and him putting it out didn't hurt his legacy either.

Bro I was thinking the same thingit's lightweight reminiscent of the Aftermath Presents... album. Dope production but forgettable content. For me, there weren't enough strong features. Paak did his thing on the tape but I can't een remember a stand out verse from the project.
I don't think people would've liked the OG DetoxThe biggest issue with the album is that Dre didn't have a strong roster of artists to build the project around.
On the NWA projects he had Cube, D.O.C., Ren, Eazy
On the Chronic he had Snoop, Daz & Kurupt, Rage, RBX, Nate Dogg
On 2001 he had Eminem, Snoop, Hittman, Kurupt, Xzibit, etc.
Had he dropped the album in 05 when he still had 50, Game, Eminem still close to his prime..the album would have been what it was supposed to be. Aftermath is practically nonexistent these days. Kendrick and TDE are self contained. Em is washed. So the album is very haphazard and all over the place.
If he wants, he can just write it off as a "soundtrack" to the NWA movie. Just kinda play it off like he did Aftermath Presents.![]()

The artists you mentioned where relatively new to the public, so Dre not being able to work around new talent seems like an excuse..The biggest issue with the album is that Dre didn't have a strong roster of artists to build the project around.

Thats what kinda irks me about it. Anderson Paak is on the right track for success, but King Mez, Justus and Jon Connor havent really done shyt since then when this was their platform to blow up....best thing about it was that introduced me and others to Anderson Paak...other than that was pretty forgettable
