canibus won the battle, ll won the war cause of his power. canibus went into a spiral after that. hissecond album was flames... but then... ugh

canibus still one of the greats. also dude is right, the only line that has stood the time is "the greatest rapper of all time died on march 9th"

Very overrated diss track, whoever compared it to Ether, Hit Em Up, etc needs to go in the bushes

LL had crazy energy on it and some hilarious quotables (comparing Canibus' frail self to a homeless crackhead) :lolbron:

Even the "hottest line" didn't even make sense. "99% of you fans don't exist", if your fans don't exist, then they are not your fans. Breh was prolly sitting in the studio like "IMA FLIP THIS DUDES LINE SOMETHING SERIOUS" and hopping around with LL energy without thinking the whole thing thru.

Canibus eventually hopped on the wack train to fukkville, but still think he got LL, especially for being a guy building his hype off random guest verses and dropping KO as a single.

Just like Jay Z vs Nas the TRUE better song with deeper content comes in 2nd, but the simple song with 3rd grade insults 'wins' the beef because more stupid ignorant pice of shyts morons think its funny
only a matter of time before you sloths bring up Jay and Nas

LL won because of "Ripper Strikes Back", the phone conversation where Canibus is coppin pleas, and the seriously underrated "Back Where I Belong". People talk about 2nd Round KO because it's basically the last diss song to have a music video accompanying it.

LL's verse from "Back Where I Belong" was dope too.

As far as Canibus go, my man is hittin' his ex-broad
I'm getting head from his new piece
While 20 gang-bangers applaud, you came up with that bullshyt
Some heads sucked it up, then you dropped that garbage album
And Totally fukked it up, I coulda told ya I knew your moms
From the after-hours spot, when I used to be up in Canada
With the dreads on a black block, before you dikk rode Lost Boyz
For a ticket our to Jersey, but being the man I am
I tried to show ya mercy, I coulda told the World
The way ya label hates your guts
And how me and Wyclef, got together to set you up
And how he gave me half your budget, don't believe me look it up
Ya A&R promotion nikkas, they helped me hook it up
I hate to be responsible, for destroying your career
A one-hit wonder, huh
No Wonder you disappeared, I coulda told the world
You get your lyrics from the internet
Then spit 'em word for word
Like you really a rap vet, How you take metaphors from books
And put 'em in your rhyme, and how you really from Canada
And you been frontin' all this time
I heard your second album, that shyt is garbage too
LL Cool J and I did this to you
On that note he said
"Yo L, you the man", I said peace, one love
And Drove off in the Lex Land

people talking that jay/nas chit but this battle was better. definitely better.

I remember thinking LL was finally gonna catch that L when "2nd round knockout" dropped. I thought we were about to see a monumentus victory, and that cannibus might just be the future of rap..........then "ripper strikes back" came out. that chit felt like an event before the beat dropped. then when the beat dropped, it was a wrap. first order of business was flipping that "gone til November" bullchit. then he shot down all cannibus' claims and proceeded to chit on his crew. that chit was epic. I give the advantage to LL, but both tracks are so classic. its really too close to call, so I cant be mad at someone saying that "2nd round KO" was better.

but I give the win to LL, ESPECIALLY when you count the rest of the battle. wyclef put his joint out(which was actually dope), and LL shut him down with "rasta imposta" going in on they whole crew even worst and putting the fugees whole career in its proper perspective - you wont even see a rapper doing that these days because the industry made it taboo to speak the obvious concerning chit like that. then LL came back 2 years later to throw salt in the womb with another classic track.

im a writer slash icon/
tell wyclef DONT EVEN TURN HIS F*CKIN MIC ON

SOULJA NICCA, THOUGHT I TOLD YA NICCA
CROSSOVER, SLAM DUNK, GAME OVER NICCA!!!!!!!!!

Didnt Canibus get exposed for stealing lines off the internet?

Why the complete drop off in punchlines after his 2nd album.
