Especially back then when we were limited to the Saiyan saga, the first 3 movies, and up to when Goku first lands on Namek. Sure, it got you hyped, but those scenes at the end had a dude like . Seeing Vegeta turn into a blonde dude in space, this dude with a sword cutting this Frieza looking motherfukker. Then seeing all them standing together. Yamcha had a different haircut, that dude with the sword eyeballing Vegeta the whole time . Then Goku powering up into a blonde dude as well. I remember watching one of the eps years ago as a youngin when it was recorded on a VHS tape (good times). Trying to rewind and pause at certain parts like, " that purple jacket dude is cutting someone that looks like Frieza, but he looks all robotic-like".



Had dudes jumping to conclusions. Hell, I remember me seeing Goten and Trunks actions figures in stores thinking that they were Goku and that sword-wielding dude turned into kids


And watching the intro again, I JUST now noticed that was Bardock at the :52 sec mark.

I got spoiled by trading cards we had over here and to be honest my 10 year old self didn't care I still go excited as fukk when Goku turned into a Super Saiyan.

I'd say the toys spoiled shyt more than anything. I remember seeing a purple haired sword wielding dude with a capsule corp logo jacket at toysrus and went "Those hood knock offs mustve went mainstream" We where just starting the Garlic Jr Saga/filler hell. Rumor was it was one of Goku's old friends from DB who just got back from war while the Z warriors were off planet.

A little over a year later Frieza and his whole squad got clapped quick by a 2nd Super Sayian outta no where shyt blew my mind.

i remember when the frieza saga was going on, and i was at how powerful he was. me and my boys were talking about that joint in class, and this random guy comes along, saying frieza aint shyt compared to buu

I started watching DBZ on toonami like everyone else until you realized they would get up to a certain point and then just go back to the beginning all the time. So you'd be all excited shyt cause Goku just lay the hurt on Recoome and Vegeta's talkin about super saiyans and shyt... and you're just like ..... and then the next day it goes back to the first episode and you're just like . It wasn't fair.

Wasn't until around like 7th grade for me when I met another kid who was real into DBZ and introduced me to the japanese version and as fate would have it there was a store near me that sold the subbed tapes. So I got to see all the shyt afterwards the way it was meant to be seen.
