It's frustrating the amount of bullshyt they put you thru. I hate when they ask "So why do you want to work here?" Cuz I NEED A JOB, you think I'm fulfilling some life long destiny to be a customer agent for Verizon?

I just hate the notion of an interview. I am begging you for an opportunity to make money for your company while being compensated in crumbs.

Not to make light of anyone's situation but the best time to be looking is while you're employed to be honest. Keep your ears to the ground to determine whether or not your employer is "restructuring" or downsizing in any way.

Above all though like @bdizzle and others have said...self-employment should also be an option. For me I have a day job and something on the side that I'm trying to start with a colleague.

Well I was nearly a month without work and had dozens of interviews then I was offered three positions.

But apply all the time. If they ask for personal statements on the applications I can help you. I may not be able to get you the gig but I can get you the interview. No guarantees.

Self employment is cool but you GOT to have some form of financial backing. I mean an investor, grant or at least saving your money from a 9 to 5 to get started. I have my own company but still work 9 to 5 while grinding on the side till my company can take off.

I was looking for a job for months cause I hate this one I'm at now (even tho I had only been working there a few months when I began my search) but within the last 2 months I quit looking for a new job and I've been a little happier both in work and life. Looking was stressing and depressing me.
