Good luck getting a federal government job if you're not a 10 point vet.
I agree. Those civilian government jobs have a strong preference for vets but there are people who never been in the military and are govt employees. I just have to find one that's a direct hire.
Its easier to go civilian fed after working under a contractor from what I'm told
I hear yall. Been tryna get into the gubment for a minute; need that stability. Began to think outside the box....
1. Been contracting with an agency for the last 2 years and have been pretty successful at it. Easier transition, I hope.
2. For the last year, I initiated a mentorship w/ bi-monthly meetings with the agency's CFO. Hopefully, he'll provide a nice recommendation or look out for me.
3. As a diabetic, recently learned about the Schedule A(u) provision that levels the playing field for civilians versus veterans. Look it up, brehskis.
4. Aligned myself with one of the agency's Career Counseling reps. Built a rapport and she even applied for a gig on my behalf. Didn't get it but, moving on, she provides guidance on how to tailor my resume to the job announcement and reaches out to the HR rep for the gig I'm applying to.
Let's get it, brehs.
