Besides web-surfing, gonna be using trading applications heavily. Video conferencing & creating video tutorials.

I'm out the loop on Laptops, best brands, and current specs.

Been using a Macbook pro for forever, but the shyt is just too slow now and can't handle the trade applications.

I don't want to pay out the ass for a Macbook if I don't have to, but I don't want to throwaway $500 on something that's gonna be trash after 1 year.

Help me out brehs.

If possible, link that shyt on Best Buy. I got Best Buy money on deck.

You should probably look for processor that i3,i5,i7 that aleast a7th gen or amd ryzen 5 or 7 2nd gen
and one that comes with a ssd that will make the laptop run much faster
If you need more space, you can go buy ssd they're much cheaper than they were before

Thanks for the feedback.

What about these new touchscreen laptops. Are they a gimmick that you overpay for and get less specs? Or are they the future wave and an essential upgrade?

Nothing wrong with them, as long as they have the processors I listed before they should run the same as a normal laptop.
touchscreen feature is nothing special special, you can always turn it off and on.
Now if you're talking about the two in one laptops thats a different story.

Depends on how old your MacBook is. You can probably upgrade the RAM and SSD in your MacBook for a couple hundo and get a few more years out of it.

A $500 laptop not gonna be much faster if you do those upgrades

I got a MacBook from 2008 that still runs everything I need it to like a champ

Or just flip the MacBook because they hold their value like crazy

If he's doing heavy video work, he should an i5 or i7. i3 seems to be lacking. Don't know enough about amd procs though.

MacBook Pro "Core i7" 2.8 13" Late 2011 Specs (Late 2011 13", MD314LL/A, MacBookPro8,1, A1278, 2555*): EveryMac.com

This is what I have, the 13inch.

How hard is it to upgrade ram on a Mac?

I want to upgrade my Mac and get a pc also.

Take a look at
From the video, it's doesn't look to hard to upgrade. I know that the later Macs are a hassle to upgrade. I think apple limits your memory to 8gb.

oh it’s a core i7 :ehh:

this shyts will be faster than most modern laptops in your price range

it will take 16GB RAM if you upgrade to Mojave

Here I’ll make this shyt real easy for you

Buy an SSD

Buy a hard drive enclosure

16GB RAM (tho you could probably get by with 8GB)

And get a torx set

If you price check you might save a few bucks but really tho this is gonna cost you less than $150 :heh:

Basically the steps are...
Plug the SSD into the enclosure and into a USB port.
Use Carbon Copy Cloner (free trial) to clone your current hard drive so you don’t have to reinstall shyt.
Open up your Mac. Put in new SSD and RAM.

And you done. This takes like under 2 hours tops.

Early 2016 Macbook's are the last user-upgradable models iirc. Upgrading/repairing anything prior to these is fairly easy though. Just gotta get the right screwdriver set for them which can be found on amazon for < $15. The screws that hold the back cover are two different sizes, so make sure not to mix them up. They also strip easy, so take your time with them.
