Looks like there will be major changes to the Celtics roster after this season

Thats my point. You think they added those things to help teams keep their players? Nope it was all about money and making things easier on cheap, incompetent owners.

The 2nd apron was a direct reaction to the Warriors winning the title in ‘22. Other owners were pissed that the Warriors, and to a lesser extent the Clippers, didn’t give a shyt about the repeater tax penalties they added in the previous CBA

There’s nothing cheap owners hate more than teams that are willing to spend

Exactly. It seems every CBA from 99 on has some measure of protection for cheap/incompetent owners in it. And the irony is that its often a response to an unintended consequence of a previous measure.

Bird rights. "Oh shyt aint no limit to what we might have to pay"

Max contracts. "Oh shyt the money is the slotted so they can just go wherever they want."

Luxury tax. "Oh shyt some of these other owners dont care and will just keep paying no matter what."

It will be interesting to see the unintended consequence of the aprons.

Eternal at being behind us in the ring count :skip:

Ah yes, the only thing you can hang your hat on which is having been an exceptional franchise during the dustiest years of the NBA. Why do anything in modern times when you’ve got all that?

Meanwhile, GOAT franchise gon keep the league on its shoulders and shine on as always. Yall bout to practice austerity measures while we build around the Don Luka.

Last I checked the Lakers were around in those dusty times too, not being able to run up the rings then sounds like it's a skill issue :ehh:

The Celtics situation is an extreme .

They went out and got Porz,Jrue and signed white because WYC knew he wasn’t going to be the one paying it …hence the sale

OKC is the real example if/when they have to break it up

You’re not wrong but I think the difference between the NBA and NFL is the learning curve for NFL players is smaller, way less development years

But even OKC in their current era while they’ve had some big hits aren’t without misses on the 1sts they kept

Bazley & Pokusevski out the league, Tre Mann dumped for 2 months of Gordon Hayward, Giddey over Franz Wagner looks to be a big miss, Ousmane Dieng in Y3 and still can’t crack the rotation

Replacing proven rotation pieces with guys on rookie deals when you’re trying to win is an inherent risk. It’s a hell of a lot easier said than done
the way to mitigate that risk is to trade potential for ready made production which might benefit everyone.

That’s cuz we eternal of course we were there in the dusty times. GOAT franchise was the first dynasty with the first league superstar. Difference is we kept up with the excellence while yall nikkaz be worthless for generations.

Honestly, when yall maintain excellence and win multiple titles within a decade again come talk to me. Until then, yall washed franchise cuz yall legacy relies on ultra washed eras for the most part. :ehh:

I legitimately believe teams want to do the least to compete, but, keep the best teams only so good that they don't look like ass.

See, my Pelicans fukking up three straight generational draft picks.

One is 40 and almost out the league, one hitting 30 and the other is a young upstart entering his prime.

3 generations!
