If you notice, new owners have been coming in making major (and dumb) moves to establish themselves. One of the Jays is getting moved

they have draft picks to keep replenishing the cheap talent around them.

So the Wallace's, Dort's and even Hartenstein's are the ones who could wind up elsewhere.

2nd rounders are gonna have to hit at a higher rate.

Sounds nice in theory but have to hit on these picks and expect them to develop at a fast enough rate to make those guys expendable

welcome to the new NBA, where like the NFL, you gotta keep hitting on the picks and since everyone swears the pool of talent is so deep that we need 2 more teams, I'm sure teams can scrounge up a couple of guys.

It’s not just the financial penalties

You can only trade 1 player at a time you can’t combine salaries, you can’t use the taxpayer MLE or sign players that are waived if they made more than it, you can’t use cash in trades, you’re limited in what picks you can trade and if you’re in 3 of 5 years then your pick will get automatically moved to #30

Sounds like you need to make sure you don't fukk your team up huh

Sam Hauser is making $10 mil a year on paper. With the punitive taxes, it will eventually cost $80 mil to the Celtics' books. Sam Hauser isn't worth $80 mil to his parents, but the Celtics gotta pay for him like he's Jokic?
