At the end of the day there is no point in having discussions like this because you don't know who you're talking to. We're supposedly 12 percent of the population in America, what percentage of black people do you think are on the internet? Even if every black person in America was an internet-a-holic it would still be more non-blacks surfing the internet, and of that percentage of blacks, half of them grew up around a healthy number of non-blacks.

My point is, contrary to popular belief, the majority of the posters on this forum (and any others, hip-hop or otherwise) will be non-black-- even if they are so obsessed with our culture that they pretend to be one of us. Therefore, you will always see a good number of posters playing devil's advocate with a contrarian point of view, unable to empathize or relate to the actual issues that pertain to black culture, because they are not actually apart of it.

Wish I could give you a million daps.

those words from bambatta arent in disagreement with anything that jamar is saying. jamar never said hip-hop isnt universal.

besides, bambatta didnt start hip-hop anyway.

Why are yall acting like black folks are really riding for this "culture"?

How many brothas in the hood do you know that are really into breaking, graffiti etc...?
Damn near nobody cares about the culture...its all a money grab. You cant be made at Vlad for seeing how stupid people are and catering to it. Same thing w/ WSHH...its a trash site, but thats what people want...its not Q's fault.

What the hell breakdancing and graffiti got to do with this:patrice:...Are nikkas not "riding" cuz we not doin dances that nikkas did decades ago but aint the dancing nikkas do now? We still dancing and creating new dances all the time, some of which may need to go,but what about the rest, they don't count:childplease:? What about nikkas turning our cars into works of art and doing donuts in the middle of the street:banderas:,is this any less hiphop than graffiti:patrice:....I know im not important enuff to challenge the 5 elements of hiphop as they are...and the fact hiphop nerds constantly use them to downplay new generations movements....some nikka will come in and tell me "bu bu bu but KRs and Bambatta said:why:"....well tell them nikkas to login to the-coli and debate with the people and maybe I can change they mind too if they don't already agree:mjpls:...so far I don't see them too eager to combat Jamar:manny:

Lord Jamar is doing what a real nikka should

Lord Jamar is straight serving these sellouts(Wayans, Rowlings,Epps), Cacs(Yellawolf) White pandering nikkas(Hopsin) and now the uninformed(Buckshot) bout to join the list

Lord Jamar is being used by a white, Russian entrepreneur (Vlad) to say controversial things that will drum up clicks and views that make money for said white man. Jamar won't see a dime from any of these videos nor will they have any actual effect on hip-hop culture.

He claims to be invested in protecting hip-hop culture from exploitation by white men, yet is doing free labor and basically out on the stroll for a white man who is actively destructive to it with his cheap gossip website.

You think Jamar should build his own vehicle to voice his opinion? Ok cool, that would be better. However, him standing against this BS is real nikka shyt. Can he do it in a smart more beneficial fashion, sure but his stance makes sense to me.

Lord Jamar Defends Snoop Dogg Fan Pictured In Blackface | Get The Latest Hip Hop News, Rap News & Hip Hop Album Sales | HipHop DX

video-183036.jpg

Brand Nubian rapper Lord Jamar was questioned by Vlad TV about a Korean man who was pictured in blackface in a photograph with Snoop Dogg, which went viral at the top of this year. While addressing the picture, Jamar first informed those watching that with his travel overseas he’s noticed that people in Asia “worship” black culture.

He then went on to state that because of their infatuation with black culture, the man who was dressed in blackface may have been paying tribute to black culture rather than mocking it.

“From going overseas and shyt like that, I happen to know that Asian people—I mean, I’ve never been in Korea, but I’ve been to Japan. And I know they straight up worship some black shyt,” Lord Jamar said. “So, when I see an Asian do something like that I honestly feel in my mind that it’s more out of reverence. And trying to actually salute in a way. Rather than a mockery and some sort of—as if a white person here in America did. You understand? Their whole history with it is totally different…They really might have dressed up thinking they were going to impress Snoop with that.”

Lord Jamar later brought “racial memory” into his conversation on the Korean man in blackface. He revealed that a Korean person in blackface isn’t the same as a white, American person in blackface because here in the United States most people are familiar with the controversial history behind blackface.

“You might even have a white guy. He didn’t intentionally do something, but you come from a country where that’s in your racial memory,” he said. “As a white person and a black person. It’s within our racial memory to know what blackface is in this country. Not necessarily in Korea… So yeah, I don’t know if I would have been offended by that. Coming from that particular person and their intentions…I feel like they come from a different culture, a different background, different intention.”

It was in January of this year when a smiling Snoop Dogg was pictured with a Korean man in blackface and a dreadlock wig. The picture was posted onto the rapper’s Instagram page along with the following caption, "Stunt double. Hahahahahah. This nigha here !!"
