The only legit point you made here is that he came out at a bad time.
Regionalism still mattered and NY was desperate to have an NY sound. Well Max repped Harlem to the death and had a NY sound that was relevant to that period of time. The south had too much momentum to counteract? People always want something different- this is why the South was able to rise, and why once they flooded the game with ring tone garbage shyt fizzled out to a region neutral sound. Which Max could easily have adopted to. Labels weren't developing artists? Max didn't need developing- in his time out of prison he developed himself more than most rappers out for 2-3x as long. It's to the point where I can hear a Max B song for the first time and know approximately when he made it- he has eras. And like I said he had a legit broad following in the Tri State area.... he was living off of show money, and all the footage of his shows is packed with women (aka the people who still buy albums). So what are you talking about? Don't you live uptown? How do you not know about Max' movement?
This nikka
@OnlyInCalifornia talkin about "if a rapper cant do songs with Katy Perry he will never blow".... has Katy Perry even done songs with any rappers?
Rap is a black artform (sorry white brehs).... Max knew the importance of history and paid tribute to it in everythign... his name, his hooks, the beats he freestyled to, the constant evolution and development of his skills as a rapper and songwriter. These are the things that made hip hop great and he was IMO the LAST rapper to do it. No gimmicks, no forced street bullshyt, no pandering or compromising to the "mainstream".
But
@OnlyInCalifornia wants rappers to do songs with JT and Katy Perry
