06-2010, if you were lyrical, you had NO shot of blowing up if you weren't from the south or rolling with YMCMB.

thats beause nobody got a legit chance to do anything.

theres a reason why 06-10 is the era when people stopped supporting this bullchit ass industry. dont believe the hype. if these bums that get propped up were running chit, they would be much bigger draws than they are. instead, theyre still getting pushed 5-10 years later and still not truly over & respected. do the knowledge.

and as far as ymcmb goes, thats just a kidz bop division of cash money.nobody needs a lil wayne cosign. nicki just needed a male cosign to put her over the top. drake just needed a group of black guys to stand around, just like iggy is doing with tip. a wayne cosign never blew anyone up. hes a fraud that couldnt blow up on his own his dam self.

Man I never though French would make it and I was listening to him when he was doing the Cocaine City DVDs...

Max B had WAYY more appeal and bangers than French when they were running together. The mumbling shyt these mainstream rappers doing these days is what Max was doing way back. Maybe not superstar status but Max would be bigger than French IMO
Max def would have made a connection with grown women, which I don't think ANY mainstream rapper in the game is doing at the moment, and would be critical to achieve sales success. Max was one of the few rappers left who wasn't a cringe-inducing dry ass cornball

:dahell:

The only legit point you made here is that he came out at a bad time.

Regionalism still mattered and NY was desperate to have an NY sound. Well Max repped Harlem to the death and had a NY sound that was relevant to that period of time. The south had too much momentum to counteract? People always want something different- this is why the South was able to rise, and why once they flooded the game with ring tone garbage shyt fizzled out to a region neutral sound. Which Max could easily have adopted to. Labels weren't developing artists? Max didn't need developing- in his time out of prison he developed himself more than most rappers out for 2-3x as long. It's to the point where I can hear a Max B song for the first time and know approximately when he made it- he has eras. And like I said he had a legit broad following in the Tri State area.... he was living off of show money, and all the footage of his shows is packed with women (aka the people who still buy albums). So what are you talking about? Don't you live uptown? How do you not know about Max' movement?

This nikka @OnlyInCalifornia talkin about "if a rapper cant do songs with Katy Perry he will never blow".... has Katy Perry even done songs with any rappers? :what:

Rap is a black artform (sorry white brehs).... Max knew the importance of history and paid tribute to it in everythign... his name, his hooks, the beats he freestyled to, the constant evolution and development of his skills as a rapper and songwriter. These are the things that made hip hop great and he was IMO the LAST rapper to do it. No gimmicks, no forced street bullshyt, no pandering or compromising to the "mainstream".

But @OnlyInCalifornia wants rappers to do songs with JT and Katy Perry

Max would have flopped. He ain't no J Cole where everyone, from everywhere, loved him and did what Max B did on a bigger scale before Roc Nation. Most of the women who ride for artists still don't buy shyt like that, unless there is an emotional attachment to the artist and the music itself. We have countless examples of artists catering to hoes and still flopping. Max B would be like a rap version of Keri Hilton: making hits for everyone, but having moderate success on the mainstream as a solo artist.

Plus right around that time was after Carter 3, which is about when Wayne was in the midst of his decline.

People talk about Wayne cosigns.... Wayne couldn't help the Duffel Bag Boys.... Wayne couldn't help Cory Gunz.... Wayne couldn't help anybody. He was never a boss or an artist developer. Drake and Nicki came to YMCMB with their own draws and lanes............................................. just like Max B had :comeon:

These nikkas dont know what the fukk theyre talking about.

Can't front, at first I didn't really like his music but some of is shyt really bumpin and got that NY boom bap style to it.

If you listen to how guys like Chief Keef and Young Thug rap now, Max was doing that mumbling style on his mixtapes

Max didnt cater to hoes, hoes catered to Max :biggapls:

Everyone doesnt love J Cole... J Cole is one of those dry ass cornballs I was talking about. Rapping about bussing too fast in the p*ssy and shyt, nobody wants to hear that except for other cornballs.

j.cole is a nobody breh.

and he didnt do chit before roc nation. he was signed the whole time, and they didnt even hide it. how do you not know this? hes just another internet plant rapper.

people like j.cole being forced as a forefront rapper is one of the main reasons why mainstream hip-hop is in even worse shape than it was when snap-crackle-crunk was all over the airwaves.

East Side!
Max was a STAR. you know how many girls have gotten in my car to me bumping some Max B and by the end of the car ride asking me for a copy of the CD or "who is this? " while bobbin their head. Sad he got locked, but he left that wave for us in the form of 26 CDs, I/m still finding gems on that library of a legend. this ngga had radio hits, street singles, hard joints, introspective joints, tracks where he was just straight spitting with no hook or melodic flow, son had the complete package, and on top of it, his charisma/appeal would have had him everywhere at some point. I honestly think the rap game would be different if Max didn't get locked and trapped in contract by Jim.

:mjlol: @ this shyt. That is why you can never be any A&Rs :mjlol:

Saying that Cole is a nobody because he didn't do that ignorant c00n shyt that made Hip Hop into a mess, or have any nonsense street rep but speaks out on shyt that most rappers refuse to talk about.

Max B would have been a regional star and nothing much more than that. He wasn't gonna Young Jeezy the game.

KRIT is not mainstream. Kendrick is OK but hes not connecting with women. Cole is full blown cornball along with anyone who fukks with him heavy. Drake and def Wiz are cornballs too. Ross is a cornball never breaking character. Jay is a cornball for completely selling out and shytting on his legacy with worse and worse music. Etc. etc. There's nobody in the mainstream that comes to mind that I say 'yea thats a cool nikka'. Is there anybody for you?

I dont like "average guy" rap.

J Cole is just contrarian. Hes against everything but he doesnt stand for anything. Thats probabyl why he appeals to you.

What does J Cole bring to the table that Max didn't? U probably cant answer as u have no idea what Max brought to the table. All u know is what u read here.
