And the irony of it is that he's not going to get any of the ad revenue generated by that CacTV video. Why haven't we taken rap and rap money back from them yet?

dudes need to keep their homemade videos, start their own channel & eat off the youtube profits when it blows up.
schedule tours & promote off social media following. Its that simple

It's that desperation to be famous, get on, and get out of your current situation, plus usually being young. Americans worship two things - celebrity and money - and often celebrity is the more worshipped.

I will say this, for all of the talk about being hustlers, New York rappers never really seemed to be that entrepreneurial. I used to always find it funny about NY rappers complaining about not getting radio play or not being able to get signed, etc., while Southern rappers were just starting their own labels and selling the music out of the trunks of their cars.

Not hard to understand. You a kid in Brooklyn, Harlem, The Bronx, Queens.....the biggest center of business and commerce is a 5 miles from your house. Nikkas save their whole life to move to New York and "make it" but, you already there. What's the need to create a music label when you can ride the subway to Columbia or Sony? There's no incentive. Now nikkas far off somewhere in New Orleans, Atlanta, Houston.....there's nothing. Those cities are basically 100 suburbs linked together by a town with a couple skyscrapers. Not a huge international city like New York. They can't travel 1,000 miles back and forth to NYC or California to network with a&rs and execs. So they have to be self-sufficient. They have to create their own movements. That's why. It's a blessing and a curse for yall.

they didn't make any money because they were one hit wonders. They simply weren't talented enough to make hot music consistently.

They made money performing the song though..believe that

Rappers are doing the same shyt in 2015..sample buncha nikkas, never clear them shyts...release the album for free and just get paid off shows

When they start suing muthafukkas for profiting from the sample thru show money then game gonna take a bad turn
