Arguably the song of the year. They even made a Bay Area version. This was when NY was at it's pinnacle.

Yeah that was hot during that year. Although I was only like three or four years old.

My mom actually grew up with peter gunz. She event went to coreys baby shower back when he only had one baby moms lol.

I remember meeting him in like 99 or something like that He was trying to get me to play with corey I and was like :camby:nah breh leave me alone :pachaha:

And the irony of it is that he's not going to get any of the ad revenue generated by that CacTV video. Why haven't we taken rap and rap money back from them yet?

fukk VLAD and those fulture cacs but why should he or any other person get ad revenue from getting interviewed?

That's what happens when a song comes out with a sample that isn't cleared. Original artist can sue for 100% of profits and win.

That's why its a gamble using a sample for a non commercial track because if it pops off then you over a barrel trying to get it cleared cause the artist knows its already a hit.

:ehh:

Californ-i-a by way of BK
Saying they made no money off it is misleading because they made a nice amount of money from concerts and being booked for shows off that song.

They saw no money off record sales

and they never thought it was even gonna be a hit, so why spend money on clearing something that you really had no intention of making any money.

new york rappers werent always the brightest ones when it came to business
It's that desperation to be famous, get on, and get out of your current situation, plus usually being young. Americans worship two things - celebrity and money - and often celebrity is the more worshipped.

I will say this, for all of the talk about being hustlers, New York rappers never really seemed to be that entrepreneurial. I used to always find it funny about NY rappers complaining about not getting radio play or not being able to get signed, etc., while Southern rappers were just starting their own labels and selling the music out of the trunks of their cars.

Cs.. new york and l.a. rappers at the time was living in places where labels are located so they main objective is to get signed by Columbia or priority records and had no sense of independence..

The bay area as always been about independent routes, so u had a lot of la rappers go up to the bay and even go down to texas to see tony draper to learn the ropes
