Insignificant posting from an insignificant poster
Heard Seattle got homeless encampments too
But Skid Row takes the cake

:hhh:

The problem here in seattle is that these hobos/transients are setting up living shop in residential parks and busy street sides throughout the city (not just in down/metro seattle area)

My home is literally 200 yards from one. While they dont tamper with the folks/residences (yet), its still an unpleasant sight.

to think; parks were meant for people to experience recreation on because the people who live in the surrounding communities pay taxes to upkeep them. Now we have to drive home and pass these mini tent cities with no resolution/remedy in the foreseeable future.

Its out of hand.

And now with the popo defunding, these homeless folks are to do as they please. But good thing a lot of us strapped up here.

Cali
Skid Row is a section off to the side of downtown and its always been there. Other parts of DTLA is dope asf(pre covid lockdowns). The problem is is that some of the homeless make their way from Skid Row to the nicer parts where the restaurants, bars, new condos, etc. are at and start panhandling and pissing in public and whatnot.

Now the issue now is that homeless encampments are starting to pop up all over the city. Its not just Skid Row and a few blocks in Venice Beach anymore, its turning into a problem all over the metro area. I've driven some family members through Skid Row so they can see the shyt with their own eyes. And to those saying they need to get up off their asses and get a job, the majority of these folks suffer from drug/alcohol abuse and mental illness. Can't hire someone that screams at invisible people while standing in the middle of the street. Only a small percentage of people are out in the streets because the city got to expensive for them.

You nikkas aren't lying at all about the strangely short distances that separate wealth from extreme poverty.

A few weeks ago, I was riding down Figueroa so that I could see the fukkery for myself, and it was appalling; literally three blocks from the depravity that was going on there — I saw a woman almost about to get her ass whooped by a kat with dreads — you could see White and Asian people sipping Starbucks, and kee-kee'ing and shyt.

...and I had a much better written response for this thread, but I fukking lost it in this maze of a mind that I have:skip:.

Both... regardless of how the state leans politically

It's not about which way the state leans politically it's about whether the state generates money or is a taker.

Social programs in Mississippi are completely funded by federal money because Mississippi doesn't make any money. The State Government itself receives welfare from the federal government.

California, on the other hand, collects lots of taxes and thus has additional tax dollars to spend on social programs.

And then the federal tax money collected from Californians gets sent to Mississippi to pay for their corrupt, slavery-apologist, Evolution denying school systems :unimpressed:

Congrats on getting your life back on track? How did you get back on track? What steps or actions you executed to get your life back on track?
i didn't want to be homeless again...so I busted my ass to not be homeless.

Deadass I used my laptop, took online courses to get my life and health insurance license, and that same year I was working at Aflac as an accounts analyst on 14 wall street...it was crazy.

But seriously that was a situation I would never wish on anybody...not even my worst enemy. I wanted to do a little short story on my experience not only with homelessness but how that motivated me to get off my ass and actually do something to benefit myself. I felt like I had to hit rock bottom for a reason. Once I did...that woke me the fukk up.

The homeless problem is an attack on black America, they stopped building projects and giving housing assistance to black Americans and here we are:francis:. The same dude who locked up brehs for a made up crime bill about to do the same thing with a homeless bill just watch.
The problem with America is that it criminalizes poverty and criminalizes homelessness too. It's a vicious cycle.

Biden and Kamala will be incarcerating them in no time.

there are 50 thousand homeless or more here. when the pandemic first started and cops were only responding to murder bums are were just sliding into the residential areas creating fukkery. City needs to buy more of these ababdoned buildings and give them a place to stay.

if they don't get a job then a trap door opens in their floor mat and zip lines them to Canada.

Mostly economic reasons or drugs related ?
Los Angeles it's definitely money.
'
the rents expensive out there.
You need atleast 3 gs to get something decent.
Hard to make that when you're underemployed lacking education and skills and the jobs aren't there otherwise.
And homeless shelters are packed or have weeks/months long waiting lists.

This myth that homeless people are drug addicts is some BS.
Some people are born into poverty and can't get out.
Some people hit shytty life situations like their mom and dad died and they have nothing but themselves and their brother or sister.
Some people just...gave up.

This is what happens when we don't have compassion for the homeless...we just erase their humanity and assume the worst about them to comfort our guilt lade psyches.

Like these are somebody's family members...sons and daughters.

When Hurricane Sandy hit NYC, you just saw homeless people you'd never see before on the streets. EVER.
Just sad af.

Yeah it’s a rack of homeless people. DC got a few but the shyt I seen in LA was ridiculous. Makes sense tho, it’s nice weather so much easier to be homeless there than in a cold weather city.
Homeless tent cities just are not tolerated in the Northeast like that at all. No. They'll squat abandoned buildings before letting them set up tents in the streets like here in Denver or in Los Angeles. That would never fly in NYC at all...

I thought Atl was bad but LA on another level:ohhh:
Its gotta be some kind of solution to this.
I thought homelessness in NYC was bad...then I started going out west and that ain't got shyt on these tent cities out here.

I sadly see this trend coming to other cities sooner than later.

you sounding like cacs in youtube comments

what does liberal politics even mean

this is just pure capitalism, people wanting to move to california because of the weather, entertainment industry, tech industry, drove the cost of living up

welcome to the free market, coming to every american city near you
Yep. Capitalism can give us fancy phones that we can do everything on...but it can't feed the poor or shelter the homeless unfortunately.
