If this were law how would that play out? You think an investigation and verdict could take place before 16 weeks?

i am not sure what the significance of 16 weeks but this is law already. there are plenty of other crime based exceptions in life that don't depend on investigation outcomes or verdicts which are pretty much unpredictable in general.... things like insurance claims, bank fraud credits, etc. usually they allow the exception as long as you agree to work with police investigation or at least file a police report...even if nothing comes of it

understand further. the NY law changed to allow late term abortions when necessary to protect the life/health of the mother or if the kid is basically going to be stillborn/dead. this is the same thing as allowed in roe v wade which is decades old and this is still allowed in these new heartbeat bills as well. understand, there is literally no reason for these new restrictions other than they want to ban abortions and they think they have the court to back it up.

Now, read this:

Abortions at or after 24 weeks are sometimes needed medically. Anyone who says otherwise is wrong.

There have been a lot of lies circulating about abortion since New York State passed a law allowing abortion after 24 weeks if the health of the mother is at risk or if there are lethal fetal anomalies.


This does not mean that ladies who just forgot their 8 week abortion who are now struggling to fit into their pants can get their better-late-than-never abortion. It means doctors can do the right thing medically if the situation arises and women with lethal fetal anomalies at or after 24 weeks will not have to travel to New Jersey or elsewhere for an abortion. It also offers protection if Roe v. Wade falls.

This has sadly been an opportunity to mischaracterize and even lie about what women who are 24 or more weeks pregnant go through when they need an abortion and I find this deeply offensive.

When some doctor who does not do abortions and who speaks on “Biblical Masculinity” said — incorrectly — that a third trimester abortion was never needed medically I threw up a twitter thread in hopes that would help people combat the lies.
