Nah I think it's more that the world doesn't care about people who aren't trying to work through their trauma and instead uses their trauma to try and excuse shytty behavior. Alex showed NO signs that he saw anything wrong with himself or that he's trying to become a better person. Instead he just doubles down on the delusion.
