Exactly. Swizz did RR Anthem then off of that got to do the entire Flesh of my flesh album which was a whole ass of shyt.

Dude benefited from that one hot track like a muh. Plus being related to Dee and waah didn't hurt. Dame blessed X and made a classic then got dropped.

Swizz to me is the snoop/50 of producers. Hot for 1 album...ass cheeks the rest of his career.
But swizz was part of 3 hot dmx albums,an eve album, two dope RR compilations.
What other hot album did dame play a big part in?

yall keep skippin over hell rell!!!

before max, dame grease was killin it with hell rell.

ruger is like the middle child that doesn't get acknowledged in this scenario.:therethere:

lol.

I see what youre saying. I reference stuff like that a lot on this board, without the catchy term. but I always say the epitome of dad hip-hop was that dr dre/up in smoke/'90s west coast revival in the early '00s. that chit had no sauce whatsoever.

sure, "up in here" was that chit when it initially dropped. it got played after a while, and too big for its own good. but initially, it was THAT JOINT. plus he was still making that raw street ish.

nah. theres a lot of people in this thread dissin swizz. and they were especially dissin him in that old thread that caused @bigbadbossup2012 to enter this thread with a full clip.

and swizz was more than just hits. he was churning out album bangers too. lets not devalue swizz to a singles producer like a timbaland or somebody.

I don't like how bossup is dissin dame grease tho
.

ehh, I agree that ruff ryders anthem is X signature song but he had already taken over before that single dropped.

so saying that swizz made X is an extreme overstatement.
Swizz did have album bangers. But put it like this. X whole best album didn’t need any of em. I’m def not tryna devalue or shyt on Swizz. I’m just saying that when he became the main producer for X. That’s when shyt went left for X cause X deviated from his dark and moody sound that Dame Grease provided. Dame was providing shyt for X that he could tell a story over. I was just listing their strengths when it came to X. Dame had album cuts and bangers. Swizz had singles and bangers.

flesh of my flesh was a great album. i'll even call it a lower-tier classic. DMX ran the table that year, making a classic in both realms of east coast street rap. the gritty dark album, and the album that was in line with the shift back into the more lively east coast beats that rap purist snobs tend to turn their nose up at.

swizz also went on to produce the bulk of the ruff ryders compilations & the LOX & Eve albums. to downplay a catalog like that is shameful.

put dame grease at the helm for those albums, and ruff ryders is seeing just half of its success. I do agree that dame grease was better for DMX, or he should've at least been given half of the workload for X. but people acting like he should've been the main ruff ryders' producers should never be A&Rs.

dame grease was more of an underground-ish guy. and he got boxed out of doing more DMX albums by the label. not saying that he was better than swizz, but he was a better fit for DMX.

he did great indie/underground work with hell rell & max b as well.

And this is exactly what I’m saying. That dude is making up his own argument. No one has said that Dame is an overall better producer than Swizz or none of that. nikkas from of the beginning was saying that Dame was better for DMX cause his beats complimented X. Fam this is an old argument. Dude didn’t come in the thread with a full clip cause nikkas dissing Swizz. He came in cause I reference another thread where dude was straight up disrespecting Dame Grease. He knew who I was talking bout so he came in and attacked me.

Taken over what?
He was on,but like hov before hard knock and can i get a,he wasnt THAT nikka yet

Dame had some cool records but when nikkas try to put him over swizz,i take it as disrespect to reality and history.

nikkas overrating him and IDAHIH
Personally i dont think IDAHIH is levels above Flesh of my flesh or ... And then there was X. Is it better, maybe but not by much

1. You're being generous. They'd had 1/4 the success or maybe even less. (there's no evidence to suggest otherwise.) Matter of fact they'd never had made it period.
Wouldnt of got the interscope deal and the lox would have remained at bad boy and been the top sellers of the circle.

2. Naw,no excuses, you work big artists with major deals, then you deserve to get held to the same standards as anyone else blessed with those chances. He's just not very good.

X could have never became what he became without Swizz,he could have without dame,so naw swizz was better for him.

up until that point, who was bigger than DMX in '98, aside from master p?

nah. I'm not making excuses.

I'm just saying, hes not a guy that's even attempting to churn out radio hits. the fact that he still managed to do so is great.
