It’s very very dope…his best album since Eminem Show imo. The accents run their course fast but the beats and rhymes and the music tho? What!? Nah, this is a fire ass album. I think Dre handled all/most of the production….not a coincidence why it’s so dope musically. Been saying it…Eminem the producer ruined Eminem the rapper, 🤷🏽‍♂️. He brings up that album and says he doesn’t like it because of the nonstop accents…that’s understandable…well go recreate the same formula you had for that album again just without the accents lol, can we get that!!??

This is why Revial pissed me off so much. The marketing for that seemed to suggest exactly what you're talking about. You got the medical/pill theme back, I'm thinking Dre will produce the bulk of the album and he can do "Relapse" type rapping with a different theme.

Instead we got an worse recovery lol

It's technically impressive and cohesive production wise. He picked a theme and stuck to it.

But I also get how he might hate it. It doesn't have the personal elements or relevance of his original run, and the content is mostly nonsense. If he kept doing that he would've been done on a mainstream level. I don't like the new Eminem, but I get why he did it as a major label artist

In hindsight, it's crazy that this was the first project he made after getting sober. I'm still shocked that he did because it sounds nothing like any of the albums he made afterwards (all Dre production, smooth flow/delivery throughout, very few skippable tracks). The fact that he's went out of his way to not take anything from this album and carry it with him tells me everything I need to know about why his music ended up the way it did.

I understand the accents bother him, but you're telling me he can't flow like he did on "Stay Wide Awake" or "Medicine Ball" or "Deja Vu" or "Underground"? "Old Time's Sake" is such a simple song, could you imagine what it would sound like if he made it now?

Yeah i fukked with lot of the album, his last listenable album to me even though the accent gets tiring.

You know he was on some serious pills when he made this album & not because of the serial killer content but comparing Encore to Illmatic :dead:

"Careful What You Wish For" was made in 2007 when he was still on drugs (along with "Beautiful"), so you're right about that. I always thought it was ironic that Relapse ended up getting the praise he thought Encore would get and it probably pisses him off to this day. :russ:

This album was ass. The Dre beats can’t even be heard because of the yelling, bad singing, accents and ramming a ton of syllables into the fewest bars possible. The concept of the album is great, along with the album insert notes, but the actual music sucks.
