I agree. Thats why I asked if you thought LSU was going to go back to winning titles with every new coaching hire. I think in the post-NIL world, theres a likely scenario where they get stuck in a perpetual loop trying to recreate the 20 years prior to NIL.

Well that’s the thing, this is the cost of getting more bites at the apple, more bites doesnt garauntee a chip, but it increases your odds, like Kirby before he got his two, they kept spending money and making moves and stacking recruits, eventually it paid off. Idk if lsu has the money to do that and flush Kelly and staff and bring a new nikka and staff and keep talent and shop for more, we shall see, now what helps is most kids in the boot want to play for lsu so it won’t take much greasing of the wheels, but this the way

I sat with this last night, I believe AD Scott Woodard and those big money boosters are going to want to go after a splash hire like a Lane Kiffin or Dan Lanning. Kiffin left USC and Tennessee a mess and just recently started having a little marginal success. He’s going to be a diva and come at a high price tag. I’d move differently if I were LSU admin. I think Kiffin prefers that Florida job anyway.

Fans can let that wet dream go of a 73 year old Nick Saban coming out of retirement. Joe Brady isn’t coming either.

Personally, I’d go after a program builder like a Jon Sumrall at Tulane or Matt Campbell at ISU, or that OSU offensive coordinator, Brian Hartline.

Those guys will be cheaper and more focused on X’s and O’s and strong recruiting. You need an in the trenches type guy for the job. You probably won’t have to pay guys like them 10 million dollars a year either initially.

Fans would hate it and want a splash hire, but I don’t think that’s the solution here.

Just looked it up, dude is worth $22 BILLION off some fukkin chicken tenders?!:mjtf:
Todd Graves is the richest person in the state.

There were even rumors of him buying the Saints. Gayle Benson isn’t coming off them though.

Todd Graves, Gordon Mckernan, Shaquille O’Neal, Richard Lipsey, Richard Zuschlag, and plenty of others I didnt name pour huge piles of money into that program.

3-4 million dollars is a drop in the bucket to those men. Now imagine if you got 50-100 others donating like that which I’m sure they do.

I'm a UF fan who wants us to hire Kiffin, so maybe biased, but I think he fits UF more than LSU even though LSU is probably the better job objectively speaking in a vacuum.

However, these jobs don't exist in a vacuum and I think Kiffin's personality and style make more sense given what has worked at UF before with Spurrier and Urban than it does at LSU.

a fired college football head coach is probably one of the greatest blessings. kelly and franklin getting paid 50 million to not work. living my dream right now.

whenever a high profile position opens up kiffin is the first name that gets thrown at it....Florida, Penn St and now LSU. he's leaving ole miss for one of these jobs right?

They don’t have a school president. As soon as they do, Woodward is done out in these streets. That’s why you see the governor so much. He’s in a bind.

He followed Washington’s president to Texas A&M, parlayed that into the sports machine that is LSU and Kelly was his guy. He sold everyone that without the restrictions of Notre Dame, Brian Kelly would be a national championship caliber coach.

He’s the architect of Kelly’s and Fisher’s buyouts plus almost complete control for both coaches at each respective program. He will never see another SEC job.

I'd find it hard to believe that he stays at Ole Miss after all these openings popped up. Expectations will be much higher at LSU or UF but they're better jobs.
