I couldn’t stand “Money Maker”. Probably his worst single up until “My Chick Bad” came out. ‘Release Therapy’ is where he flipped to a more serious tone and stopped being fun. ‘Red Light District’ was similar outside of the main singles and a couple other songs. His first three albums were really good though and have staying power.

Luda did help keep the South alive in the early 2000s…

He had a great run from 2000-2006 either way.

After that, Luda started pivoting more into movies.

Release Therapy didn’t even deserve to win at the Grammies. That album was ok.

Game and Mobb Deep’s albums were better than Release Therapy.

So basically he’s the black Eminem pre-2011.

Honestly, kind of. All that animated shyt in their videos in the early 2000s. The wacky raps but you have to be so fukking good at rapping to pull off what they did. The music overall just hasn’t aged well

Luda probably got tired of everyone downtalking the South…

Low key, a lot of them were hurt about Nas’ Hip Hop is Dead statement.

Luda and many others wanted to appeal to the lyrical crowd but lost a part of themselves.

I liked Luda as being the Southern Redman.

The world loved when he rapped all silly and goofy.

Even his videos had me laughing hard.

Not everyone can be Nas or Jay-Z and he’s one of the few rappers that have them both on a song together and didn’t get outshined.

Ludacris
Eminem
D12
ODB
NORE
Biz Markie
The Pharcyde
St. Lunatics, etc.

All had that comical style rap shyt to stand out. Rio da yung OG, RMC Mike, BDF Packman, and YN Jay are today’s version of that.

Luda is the Big Sean from the 2000s.

Talented, makes good music but is not respected. Personally I think Luda is in the top 5 from the ATL

Ludacris has respect. It's like ya'll look at him negatively for not being a street dude. He never pretended to be that. He was respected as an MC. He is the ONLY rapper that can say he has a song with NAS AND JAY Z on the SAME song.

In some ways yes, Ludacris has real charisma that Big Sean doesn't though.
