Ludacris is a better rapper bar for bar. I'd put songmaking on a equal scale, they both have commercial hits and underrated gems...

But Tip should be considered the historically greater artist. Luda has one classic, Chicken N Beer. I'll give a pass to anyone who says Word Of Mouf but it's not indisputable the way Chicken N Beer is...

Tip has two classics in Trap Muzik and Urban Legend. If Luda had major advantages elsewhere, having fewer classic drops would be moot, but he doesn't. The peak popularity of the two was higher from Tip, he was more influential on The Culture in general, and while both have music that didn't age well, Tip's aged better...

Tip just made a more profound imprint on The Culture and has more classic work...

That said Cris' Chicken N Beer can easily, easily be argued as the best album between the two...

The problem with prime Luda is the same problem with prime Eminem, all that Looney Tunes shyt aged like milk

Ludacris is a better rapper skill-wise, but I can go back and listen to Underground Legend, King. and Papertrail as an adult without cringing :yeshrug:

yall are such troll artists on here, TI put out complete albums, luda's shyt, even old shyt, was full of skippables. and the age factor? i can still throw on i'm serious, back for the first time sounds like a time warp...trap muzik >>> red light district and so on. ti's music has aged much better. ti's last album wasn't much but trouble man was cool...and he stayed killing his features in 2013 -2014.
I was about to say, Luda reign was in my high school years and I’m 35 now Luda had like a 5 year span of making listenable music. Ti been pumping out consistent music for two decades

tip wins slightly because he had the King album, that whole 2006 run and he broke trap music in officially.

its close tho. ludacris is a better emcee, lyricist, has more dope albums, and of course he served TIP in their battle.

so its a good debate. Tip gets the slight nod tho.

“Back for the First Time” is the best Ludacris album, that can still be played front to back, and not get old. It’s surprisingly his most overlooked, here.

The rest of his discography is too top heavy. They depend on the singles, start strong as fukk, then fizzle out by the back half.

The next best two are “word of mouf” and “Theater of the Mind”. Nothing else aged as well.

I respect the hell out of both artists and they’re both cool as hell in real life. That being said, Tip has the better discography (not even including mixtapes) and there’s nothing you can do about it. Tip has the bigger legacy, and there’s nothing you can do about it……………… That’s it, there’s nothing you can do about it.

Lyrically they’re both equals (if you didn’t know that you probably weren’t listening to “In Da Street” vol. 1-3). TI’s discography had more depth, and was more well rounded overall.

I never liked how Luda seemed to be pigeon-holed into being the go to “south” artist when another region needed somebody on their garbage, cheap ass, wanna be “southern” beat. Like TI, his best out of region features were came naturally like the “made you look” remix. Both can sound right at home on anybody’s shyt, like TI on a Dipset track.

I was extremely happy when they put the petty bs behind them and started collaborating. There isn’t much more I’d kill to hear outside of a 2005 Ludacris/TI collaboration album/tape produced entirely by the heatmakerz and DJ Montay.

The singles were cool, but the rest was aight. I played it repeatedly when it dropped, I’ve given it spins over the years. It was good commercially. Sonically it just didn’t age well. Songs from “Red Light District” get more love. Plus it was a lot less generic. If it’s your personal favorite then there’s nothing wrong with that.

Red Light District was less commercial to you? It's hard to see how you hold this opinion. The scope of Chicken N'Beer is more broad, better production, I've actually never heard anyone put three Ludacris albums over Chicken N'Beer, nor Red Light District...

You wildin but at least you're unique 🤣...
