The NBA used to be a physical league. In the 2000s they changed the rules to allow freedom of movement to allow for an increase in scoring. Luca, Curry and the rest of these guys are benefitting from a change in rules and a softer league. This is not the same league that Jordan, Pippen and those guys played in. If guys could get physical with Luca and Curry the way that they used to be able to be physical in past Luca would be Detlef Schrempf.
