Luka’s made All NBA every year of his career outside of his rookie year. Just took the Mavs to the Finals. And he’s only 25.

You need to stop talking basketball

Man that nikka ain’t the messiah they say he is. He does the same shyt Trae does. Luka just taller and fatter. Both are elite on offense and trash on defense but somehow Luka is MJ/Kobe/Bron all in one to these cacs. They crown him MVP every preseason and it never happens

I wouldn’t have made the trade cause of the age differences but I see why they did

A nikka with a Hawks avi :mjlol: you just woke up ready for violence huh

Every fukkin day

This was an ownership call. I don't know why this isn't getting pointed out by rational people. No GM is trading a player of Luka's caliber out of the blue on their own, especially not to just a single team.

They obviously didn't want wind of this leaking anywhere and for what it's worth, the Lakers have made big moves in the past without anything leaking. When they wanna keep things airtight, they do.

When did I say it wasn't an ownership call? Clearly trading your franchise player isn't something you just decided to do in an instant

End of the day by only negotiating with one team for a player of his caliber you're still creating the same situation, where said team is bidding against themselves. If the roles were reversed and the Lakers were seeking out an AD trade, you think the correct approach would've been to only discuss with one team and have one offer on the table?

Will he average that again?

If you’re the Mavs GM would you want to bet on that a 25 year old isn’t gonna improve or is gonna drastically fall off a cliff before he enters his prime?

He’s a top 5 player when he’s been “out of shape”

If he was in his 30’s I could see the concern but he’s 25 he’s not even in his prime yet

When people say this but offer no evidence or example, it’s straight up BS
They could surely got something like the PG in return to Luka or even what the Knicks gave up to get Bridges.

That literally should have been the starting point.

He is in his prime. And he’s been in his prime at least 2 years. He’s been playing professionally since 15-16 years old. We’ve seen his body breakdown in multiple playoff series. What is supposed to change in the next 10 years?

I probably wouldn’t have made the deal, but I can see why you’d want out of the Luka business if he’s up for $350 million.

Even if AD was a better player than Luka, and he isn’t, you don’t do that because of age alone. There’s no justifying this, especially knowing other teams would’ve given you a huge haul.

It’s not all about who is the better player. Luka is not better than AD overall while in the court imo. AD is so injury prone is what bothers me and the fact that he isn’t a true alpha leader. As a player you can’t tell me he isn’t a huge complimentary piece. He is not an alpha like Luka but he is a HELLUVA player. Dallas will benefit more from this trade especially in the short term if AD is healthy. I am a Bron stan but let’s be honest, they need some hellified field defenders around a 40 year old and a defensive turnstile.

they didn't even get both of the lakers picks lol

and shyt, even if they paid luka - teams would still break their backs to give dallas cap relief, picks, and a great player on top for him. they simply didn't do their job and take this to auction

this is malpractice straight up :mjlol: i really hope we skip the part where folks try to talk themselves into this

It was probably either Max Christie or another protected first round pick or pick swap and the Mavs opted for Christie. He’s lowkey becoming a solid 3-and-D starter on a team friendly contract for four years.
