It’s not all about who is the better player. Luka is not better than AD overall while in the court imo. AD is so injury prone is what bothers me and the fact that he isn’t a true alpha leader. As a player you can’t tell me he isn’t a huge complimentary piece. He is not an alpha like Luka but he is a HELLUVA player. Dallas will benefit more from this trade especially in the short term if AD is healthy. I am a Bron stan but let’s be honest, they need some hello field defenders around a 40 year old and a defensive turnstile.

It is about who the better player is when that guy just led you to the Finals while putting up 28/8/8. I’m not even trying to slight AD because I’m a fan of his too, but you don’t do this deal because of the age difference when the guy you traded away would’ve had you competing for championships in the next 10 years. AD will still be AD sure, buts it’s a shortsighted move, you won’t have this AD in 10 years. You keep the all-NBA playmaking guard who can also score with the best of them 10 out of 10 times.

It kinda goes back to the brief “Kobe vs LeBron” era during the years of '07-'10 before Bron took his talents to South Beach and was still a Cavalier.

Some Lakers fans despise Bron because of the shine he's always gotten over Kobe. Despite Kobe being a champion, he was never as championed as LeBron was in NBA conversations. Some Laker fans took that personally and, ever since then, have been against Bron, and his joining the Lakers was hard to digest for them after years of viewing him as an “archenemy.”

LeBron, despite being ringless at the time, was deemed by many to be better than Kobe, which I don't think Kobe would even dispute since he was fond of James himself, which is why he pitched for him to come to the Lakers in 2018.

That's why some Laker fans have been soo thirsty for him to just leave by any means cause they can't enjoy or cheer for Laker basketball knowing he wears the purple and gold, it's eating their souls.
