Luka is not nearly as bad on defense as folks make him out to be. He's improved notably on that side of the floor, but it's easy for folks to point out the times he's exposed or has lapses to use as confirmation bias, all because he exhausts himself on offense (which he is partly to blame for). But more to the point, there should be no hesistation on giving him the supermax. He's a generational player.

They won't be getting a player even remotely on his level anytime soon.

Because at best, Mavs have a two-year window to win, and this move didn't make them better. They were already 8th in the conference, and they give up their primary playmaker and scorer.

If Kyrie doesn't pick up his option, then what? If AD doesn't pick up his option then what?
