Cole didn’t have an entire record label sabotaging his release dates and keeping him on the shelf because he refused to use pre-made records. There were extenuating circumstances that actively held back Lupe’s time on top.

Cole never went through all that. He made his OWN hit with Work Out and from that point has pretty been able to do whatever he wanted artistically.
And Cole isnt nearly as concious or political as Lupe. While Cole is a “positive” rapper, he knows how to play it safe.

Nah breh I can't objectively say Lupe has seen Cole's success.

Lupe had number 1 charting albums, hit singles, Grammy awards, critical acclaim, world tours, etc. all before Cole was ever a factor.

Its crazy how people forget the respect and success Lupe attained at a mainstream level from 2006-2010

He got a dedicated fanbase that love and support him, he making music he wanna make, he not broke/living beyond his means, and when he kicks the bucket(inshallah no time soon) he'll be remembered and counted on many peoples personal/objective top 10s.

I don't see how that's losing :yeshrug:
He ain’t gone be in many top 10’s, personal or objective but he’ll be shown appreciation for what he did

Because people got mad he talked shyt about Obama despite Lupe ending up being right about him

He wasn't exactly right as his remarks about Obama pretty much sums up every American president who sent troops to the Middle East. And to top it off, where was his this anti-Obama rhetoric back when Obama was a senator of the state where Lupe Fiasco resided. Back when Common was endorsing Obama in 2004 on the "Why" remix, why didn't we hear Lupe express his disdain for Obama then? And yes, Obama was backing policies that fell in line with what Lupe was calling "terrorist" even when he was a senator.

So that means he was right. Lol. Lupe wanted people to know just because Obama was black he wasn’t going to be our savior. And he wasnt.

and not to mention what Obama did to Libya.

black folks was just too sensitive over Obama without fact checking shyt (as usual) & Obama ended up leaving them in the dust for gays, jews, and native americans. Facts only.

It's "right" in the technical sense because he was one in a long line of them.

Lupe didn't want anyone to know anything. If he did, he would've been fighting that fight before Obama became president. Anyone with any semblance of sense didn't look at Obama as our savior because he was Black. The excitement and us rallying behind Obama had more to do with there not being anyone of color to hold that office and many of us never thought it possible until he ran. And honestly, Obama had more power as a senator than he did as a president because as a senator, you are making legislative decisions. So if Lupe really was out here trying to get people to see past the Obama hype, he would've attempted to "disarm" the "terrorist" when said "terrorist" was in a position to do far more harm.

And realistically, no president would really be a savior to us as Black Americans because it require dismantling everything mainstream America holds dear (The Constitution, Declaration of Independence, the flag, Statue of Liberty, abolishing the pledge, police reform).

Lupe's whole stance against Obama was all smoke and mirrors just like his stance against Atlantic Records. He wanted it to look like he had a noble cause for people to rally behind. Lupe is someone I look at as a Grade A lyricist, but beyond his music, the rest is blah.

Lupe referenced Obama on Hurt Me Soul in 2005/2006 along with “all the world’s ills”

This part is bullshyt. Atlantic legit held up Lupe’s career because he wouldn’t renegotiate his deal and sign a 360 and he wouldn’t use pre-packaged recordings. There’s proof of all that. Atlantic fukked Lupe over something SERIOUS after The Cool

Cole has all of that while peaking higher in popularity/mainstream success and greater longevity.
