Man Royce broke all of those cats down (lupe, url cats, factz, nerd rap and etc) so bad in his track . Lupe stans getting his bars all twisted up, shyt has went totally over their head, and that's supposed to be Lupe's specialty (which he is god tier at mind you). Not that I am actually taking anything Budden says seriously, especially not regarding Royce, the bias is clear...but yeah, his man got smoked and I think him and Royce know that so now they're just reaching for anything to make it look less severe (Lupe was so angry! Royce was the one saying he'd smoke Lupe in a battle and inviting him to battle, check the files. Lupe wasn't even on that until Lux and Mook got involved, prior to that it was all Royce.

I get what you're saying, but Royce wasn't just stacking multis, he was showing a full display of his skill as an MC from a pure rapping perspective. Technically when Rakim and G Rap dropped their super lyrical songs, they wasn't saying anything other than talking about how amazing their rapping skills are. To me, that is part of rap. Just a display of natural talent. Flows, cadence switching, in and out of pockets, effortlessness in how he did it was amazing. I'm not about to downplay Royce's talent. I know nikkas don't like Royce, but as far as natural talent, he's up there.

Lupe was pretty much freestyling or jotting down shyt and then saying it, without much concern for how it sounded or how it flowed. It was just a far better diss record because he was attacking his opponent and had scathing things to say.

Exactly. And I'm a bigger Royce fan than Lupe, I laughed cause getting in my car for the first time in a week and I had Royce's Bar Exam 4 in the deck. When I'm just chilling and listening I like Royce's music better cause he flows his ass off and his pen is sick as far as writing bars that sound good. But when talking about rapping better and including lyricism Royce most of the time don't be saying much of nothing. Just rapping about how dope he is, his dikk, or guns. I said before that when he actually raps about particular subjects he loses all the multis and simplifies his style a lot because it's much harder to get a message across AND have all the multis.

When it comes to rating MCs I'm always rating the MC that's actually delivering a message in a dope way with their rhymes over the dude with all the technical skills that's not really saying much of nothing. Now rating the actual music is different.

Even with these two songs I rated Lupe's higher because I thought Royce was over rapping. He loses the impact of the lines by not giving them time to breath and just flowing nonstop, doesn't give time for his lines to sink in so they lose impact and you just zone out and get lost in the flow due to it.
