Only thing lupe lacks is the yearning for mass appeal like the rest of these rap clowns. He's not out here dumbing down shyt or talking about ignorant shyt just so 14 year old white girls and ignorant nikkas will fukk with him.

If lupe can write shyt like mural and SLR while "missing" something then let him keep missing it.

Right bc he NEVER made a crossover song with Trey Songz :camby:

I wasnt mad?

I started talking about "stupid" and "ignorant"?

Lets see these quotes again: "ignorance biased on your view of Testuo"

And lets see the definition on ignorance. "unaware,or uninformed."

Nothing but statements about on how you seemed to rate Lupe on his last album alone, which still seems to be the case.

So now lets see that "stupid" quote.

"Lack in songwriting.... Too many examples to even begin addressing this stupid statement."

Well its a stupid statement, especially if you don't make arguments on why you think so.

And lets not pretend you dont use similar words when people question K-Rino.

Lets use a argument style you LOVE to use. Other rappers opinion.

Quote from GZA: "I like Lupe [Fiasco], and I think he should be an example for these young dudes, because he has lyrics, can tell a great story and can capture you; he's not on the bull----, he's himself. That's the kind of music I like" (New Clan Plan)

Jay Z: “the greatest writer of our time” (Lupe Fiasco Released One of 2015's Finest Rap Records, so Why Are People Nervous to Talk About It? | NOISEY)

Nas: "One of them young nikkas, Lupe Fiasco, I'll listen to anything he do. That nikka really cool as a mutha****a. He's fun and it ain't just about being lyrical." (April 2007 XXL Issue)

Im pretty sure they would also call your statement about Lupe lacking in songwriting "stupid".

Your not invested in Lupe so you wont debate me?

Pff... Why post on a message board if you only intend to come in to threads and vent your feelings and then leave. A message board is made for discussions. Post your opinions on Twitter if you dont want a response.

Im not taking my opinions as facts. Im challenging yours. I havnt even talked about my opinions outside of me thinking your arguments are flawed. And then I explain why I think your arguments are flawed. Im not saying my view on your opinions are facts, Im making an argument.

I dont even care about your opinions. All I want is an explanation on why Lupe lack songwriting skills.
And dont bring up Tetsuo. He got a whole catalogue with songs that show his capability of song writing.

If the song writing on Tetsuo was lacking in your opinion. Thats alright, but thats only one album. But if you think his CAPABILITY as a song writer is lacking you need to explain your self. Its not about if you like it or not. Its about what you think he's lacking or what it would take to make him a better song writer.

And to stop writing puzzle rap is not an acceptable answer since that's just one style that hes using. Saying hes lacking in song writing means he is missing something, not doing to much of something.

Since you know all his music you would have not problem analyzing his other styles of writing and tell us what he needs to improve to become a great song writer.

Straight ethered that culture vulture.

Ruler logic: only he can pull comments from other rappers to further his agenda but once you do it to him he runs away

He is a strong lyricist, but even then, I feel its for people who want to sound smart. Basically if you on the cusp of knowledge, Lupe is probably the shyt.

If you into reading about climate change, globalisation, gangs, personal responsibility. Lupe is a graduate student that raps. With that said I like his stuff, I like that he is pretentious, and doesn't quite fit in anywhere. The hipstrs don't like him. The hood don't like him. The pitchfork rap bros don't lime him. Just by a process of elimination, I think he deserves a seat at the table.

He maybe the most interesting rapper out there.

His voice isn't that great but neither was Bob Dylan so can't hold that against him. I just got through The Cool for the first time in years so was reevaluating him.
Agreed.

I listedn to Conflict Diamonds the other day fro the first time in a few years. That's such a knowledgeable record. That was before the movie, before the Kanye verse. And he really broke it down. At the time it came out I was impressed but looking back it's even more impressive from a knowledge perspective.

Beig a "kicking knowledge" MC is his downfall and he never really had a clan or movement to be a part of. CRS doesn't count neither does that other shyt. He's not personal enough. He wasn't part of a wave like Talib was, Mos was, The Roots was.

Agree with you he doesn't really fit in anywhere but that's due to his own pretension.

Also at this point he's just making bad music. F&L 1 has aged terribly i'm sorry. Some of the production and hooks... awful. The Cool stands up as do the mixtapes.

Im a huge Lupe fan. Like immense. However, some of his later work has been undigestable even for me. I mean i listen to his shyt 3-4 times to grab everything but most fans will not commit.

i think its mostly his song structure and production that turns me away. Becuase nothing is worse than having deep lyrical music that you cant replay becuase the beat and hook annoy you to no end.

and to add his best music is when it was more melodic. where he didnt do the hook he let jean or matthew or jill sing it and he just flowed and the beat was more on pace to that.

Some of ya have to look at it also in the realm of art. sometimes he spits what seems to be a stream of consciousness type shyt becuasse that the direction he wants it to go. Since when does everything in rap have to be straight forward without creative methods of delivery or content.

Naw Lupe doesn't lack anything. in all honesty he top 10 right now, arguably top 5.

He's miles ahead of Kendrick Lamar overhyped/overrated ass
His only comp (Lyrical/metaphorically) is going to be nikkas like eLZhi.

Lupe doesn't get the light he deserves because he bucked the music label and forced them to allow him creative control. his Lazer albums was the turning point in which he became "swept under the rug" material.
Agree Kendrick is fukking over rated as shyt

T&Y is by far his most melodic album from a musical standpoint, and by a good margin.

Now as far as his "best" work, that's up for debate.

But i didnt like it beyond the lyrics. He was most mainstream in a way with his production and flow . And i bought the album, but some of the features and beats where questionable. His early mixtapes and first two albums are what i hold him to.

Don't get me wrong, Kendrick is talented and he has bar's. definitely one of the few of the new class who can rap to save they own life. but I think crowning him this early in his mainstream career is too premature and plus it produces an unhealthy mindset for Kendrick (in my humble opinion).
