This just shows that you are lacking in knowledge. I hate to use the term puzzle rap, but he has been doing that style since day one. That's one of the reasons he got a big fan following.

You whole post stinks of ignorance biased on your view of Testuo.

You didnt like it. Fine. Its was a very conceptual album and was clearly intended as a piece of art.
And fukk out here with the puzzle rap nonsense. I have already posted this in another thread but ill say it again.

Artists have always made songs that are hard to know the meaning of and that have been okay. But when a rapper does it, its "pseudo intellectual" or corny.
Take All along the watchtower lyrics. Lupe fiasco's lyrics makes a lot more sense, but Dylan is hailed as a great songwriter.

There must be some kind of way outta here
Said the joker to the thief
There's too much confusion
I can't get no relief

Business men, they drink my wine
Plowman dig my earth
None were level on the mind
Nobody up at his word
Hey, hey

No reason to get excited
The thief he kindly spoke
There are many here among us
Who feel that life is but a joke
But, uh, but you and I, we've been through that
And this is not our fate
So let us stop talkin' falsely now
The hour's getting late, hey

All along the watchtower
Princes kept the view
While all the women came and went
Barefoot servants, too
Outside in the cold distance
A wildcat did growl
Two riders were approaching
And the wind began to howl

And even if Tetsuo was a very complex and conceptual album he did balance it with "straight forward" raps on Delivery, Chopper and to some degree prisoner 1&2.
The majority was "puzzle rap" but that doesn't tell us nothing what path hes on. Hes always been on this path and sometimes he will release songs that are hard to decipher and sometimes he will make songs that are "straight forward".
There has always been balance and Im certain its gonna be balance in the future also.

And lets not forget Tetsuo was a reaction to Atlantic forcing him to make music he didnt want, not trying to satisfy a small hard core fan group. This was his PURGE.

Dude, even the most hardcore Lupe hater would have a hard time writing this.

Lack great albums.... 2 classics is lacking great albums now?

Both critical acclaimed and fan loved.

Food & Liquor by Lupe Fiasco

The Cool by Lupe Fiasco

Lacking replay value.... He got hits from EVERY single one of his albums that still get play from tons of people. Check his Spotify top list. All albums represented. with 2.412,813 listeners every MONTH.

Lack in songwriting.... Too many examples to even begin addressing this stupid statement.

Again your lack of knowledge of Lupes music is showing. I shouldnt even reply when you make statements like that.

He's a Nerd.. Who became Popular and It turned him into an a$$hole..

So he comes across like he think he's smarter than everyone and throws fits when shyt don't go his way..

That turns a lot of people off..

Dope Lyricist.. He has Classic material..
But he acts like that dude in the hood who wasn't Cool growing up.. Then once he gained some stripes..
Comes back to the Hood and get's mad when the OG's on the corner dont care about what he saying lol..

hes really a hood dude though the nerd shyt was just a gimmick

Dude is pretentious as hell and always tries to stress that he's smarter than his audience, and the rest of the rap game. Overly complex lyrics for the sake of saying absolutely nothing gets you Food and Liquor 2 shyt. Everything he's made after The Cool is so forced. It just goes to show you that you need more than just lyrics. Lupe bar for bar is prolly one of the best lyricists ever, but he dont make music you can feel anymore.

food and liquor 2 is dope

He should've gone Independent. He was never the type of Artist a label like Atlantic would understand so a lot of politics limited his potential & constantly fighting his own fans when pushed to make Commercial Music to sell to the Teenybopper's hurt his image. When he tried to be "Lupe" it dropped his Mass Appeal the label was trying to maintain. Atlantic doomed him, not his talents...
Atlantic had nothing to do with the fukk boy music he was putting out on his own through mixtapes. Atlantic has nothing to do with Lupe mailing in 2 of the better songs on Lasers. Hell, Atlantic hasn't interfered with him for the last 2 records now, and then all y'all lamed out

Now he's on his own and can't even get us ONE of the three records he swore he'd drop.

Crossover appeal.

But he doesn't give a fukk about that so it doesn't really matter.

Also...Food and Liquor is a CLASSIC.

However, The Cool is better than Melatonin when you need to get a good 8 hours of sleep

he had crossover appeal though is for three albums went gold his third album was almost plat

Most conscious rap is simplistic at its core as well as condescending. Never mind the fact that most conscious rappers suffer from some highly suspect philosophies. Sure the ideology is great, but the music is always droll or far too preachy. This is not to say that some songs can't be good, however, an artist will always come with the stigma that they're doing it as an affectation. It's all too flakey, so while I enjoyed Lasers thoroughly, it was far too corny for its own good. Kanye proved that its okay to switch up the style and still provide some political feedback...even if you have no idea about geo-economics or political structure.

So Gangster rap, Club Rap isn't condescending :ohhh: The same rap where nikkas are literally the baddest motherfukkers on the planet, or the most hoe getting alpha male, my life is better than yours bs spewing ideology isn't seen as a weakness?
