Breh, take it from someone who actually watched Shaq in those days. Dude would get winded, his dominance isn't overstated but the endurance is. Lets not act like Shaq wasn't putting on all types of weight and not conditioning himself as well as he should. Plus too much Shaq on the floor could lead to injury which would fukk the team over.

You could say the first few seasons that kinda playing relationship existed between Kobe and Shaq but once Kobe came into his own he was a threat to score with our without Shaq which was the difference in those Lakers teams taking L's in the playoffs and winning 3 straight. I know you don't mean to knock Kobe but unintentionally you did. I can't say it enough, those two needed one another for that level of success.
Everybody knows Shaq wasn't in the best of shape. If he was his prime would have been longer. Imagine Shaq in Dwight's body (with his post moves of course).

And I don't see how benefiting from another player is a knock.

You know how old I am? :dead:

And last time I checked basketball footage doesn't change over time.

Stop catching feelings cause I said Kobe benefited from Shaq. I could have said he carried Kobe but I didn't want you to start crying in my alerts-- oh wait! I spoke too soon.

Like I said....the Blazers got players specifically to try and slow down Kobe (Ruben Patterson), Kings got Doug Christie, and the Spurs got Derek Anderson then Bruce Bowen to try and slow Kobe bc KOBE...not Shaq....was the one killing them in the playoffs.

You not knowing that was a dead give away that you obviously weren't old enough to be watching Kobe and Shaq back then to try and analyze it to some of us who were posting in the coliseum on sohh while watching the games back then:ufdup:

You mad or nah?

If Shaq had listened to Kobe his prime would of lasted much longer and he wouldn't of been hampered with injuries. Real shyt, as dominant as Shaq was even he had his weaknesses. Once teams were able to contain Kobe they let Shaq tire himself out tryna make up the difference and foul out.

But implying that teams weren't giving their best defensive effort on Kobe is disingenuous, like @Newzz was just saying, teams were trying all types of players looking to stop Kobe to no avail a lot of the time. That wasn't because of Shaq, that was because Kobe was an elite player himself. Shaq's presence certainly helped, but Kobe was the one that hit the moves and J'd up his opponents not Shaq. You just made it seem as though Kobe's contributions to the 3peat were consequential of Shaq's presence rather than his own hard work and dedication to be that. Remember, part of the reason Shaq and Kobe ain't get along was cuz he'd rather train and study tape than go to the club with the team, and this was when he was young when he shoulda been like that. So Kobe always worked hard to be good and had the athleticism to be special, he was fortunate to play with one of the great physical talents of all time tho.

I'm not saying they were leaving the other 4 players wide open. I'm saying the best defensive effort was going to Shaq.

How's it taking away from Shaq by saying that Kobe was the one that led them thru the Western Conference playoffs when its the truth:what:

I watched the games in real time and posted about the games on Sohh. You didn't see them, so u looking at numbers, but the numbers don't say what I posted in my last post.

I bet you have never heard if the self proclaimed Kobe stopper Ruben Patterson who, according to him, was released from the Lakers bc he was locking up Kobe in practice.

Take notes breh.....I'm an OG in these Coli streets:blessed:

If that's what you wanna call it. :laff:

But to be honest even the best ain't matter in those days Shaq was abusive as shyt to defenders. The Kobe matchups were always more interesting, it was like Shaq on offense was the comedy and Kobe on offense was the drama. smfh, I really wish those two would've gotten along better shyt would be so different.

You're lying.

You've been around as long as I have and you know damn well that Duncan and Webber was playing Shaq to a stand still.

Kobe was the difference maker especially in the Spurs series' back then
