Im the biggest jay fan and tracks like Lucky Me and Where im From are classic hov records but no way can i say vol 1 as a whole LYRICALLY is better than reasonable doubt

I don't think so but there's instances on Vol. 1 that are up there with some of jay's best...

I honestly listen to Friend Or Foe '98 more than any cut from either album. it's not as lyrically dense as some of his best tracks but it shows that Jay has that effortless lyrical arrogance that alotta mc's try to pull off and can't quite sell.

IMO that song is a perfect track.

Yeah, you can tell that ski made that beat for camp lo cause it sounds like it would be right at home on uptown sat. night and they woulda made it a dope song but even they will tell you that they couldn't murder it like Jay did. I feel like the video was him giving them a metaphorical headnod since that was totally their style. And both versions of the song were dope but I prefer part 2 to the soundtrack version.

The rhyme no more intro needed to be longer, that beat was so ill. There's a O.C. freestyle over that beat that he did for the intro to an old dj camilo mixtape and of course he fukking killed it too.

All of his beats got that "late night cruising thru the city" feel to em'. Just real laid back and smooth.
And yeah, that beat sounds like it would've been on Camp Lo's Uptown Saturday Night album

The Rhyme No More beat could've been longer but you know what? I think the fact that isn't adds to what makes the song dope. It's one of them joints that starts one way and then ends another and the ending just gives you less than half of what you first got.

NO. Reasonable Doubt verses were more multi-layered and complex than Volume 1. But his flow on Volume 1 is godbody.
