The innovation isn't the problem I think. It's that you have this technology pretty much always on in your living room. The ability to measure heart rates in this fashion is amazing. The fact that something can do this and monitor it on a constant basis at any time without you knowing is PRISM-ish.

people need to stop with whats trending now. meaning just because YOU just heard of PRISM> now the xbox scares you. uhhh does your laptop scare you?
you have a camera on your laptop, and a built in microphone as well. most people dont even know how to turn that mic and camera off in the settings.
you do know people have hacked into people's laptop cameras and watched them since a lot of people dont close their laptops. and some people dont turn them off, they let them go to sleep mode(or standby aka ALWAYS ON).
but yet i dont hear and outcry about a laptop.
where they have now pretty much forced us all to have a webcam. and a built in mic. but since you see the good usage of those things (skype, etc). its okay. but since you dont YET see the goods in this always on xbox. you dont like it. and since the PRISM thing, now you're aware and since the kinect is the new kid on the block. its the thing you are afraid of and equate to being a part of PRISM or could be. when in reality your laptop is just as much a culprit as your kinect. same goes for your cell phone, thats ....always on, with a cam and a mic.

Couple things:
PRISM just happening gives something to compare it to. But people, including myself, had problems with this before PRISM was leaked.
I personally know people that have problems with laptop cameras. They'll tape over their laptop camera because it's not in use most of the time.
In general, your comparison to laptops isn't totally accurate. A lot of people leave their laptops on standby but a lot of people hibernate. XBox One doesn't have that option. You have to unplug the XBox or at least the Kinect for the closest option. And of course you have to plug those back in before you turn on the XBox (which is why people wouldn't have as much of an issue if you weren't required to have Kinect attached). Furthermore, when you close your laptop, your camera obviously can't see anything (though ofc the mic can still hear). The fact of the matter is you have options with laptops. But with XB1, they made it so you're going to pretty much always lave your ethernet and Kinect plugged in at all times along with a camera that can monitor statistics down to your heart rate.
Frankly, I don't think the fact that PRISM was recently leaked should be a reason to dismiss these concerns.

do you not understand if you dont completely take the battery out of your laptop and unplug it. its ALWAYS ON.
have you ever heard of wake on lan? it means i can turn on my computer via the internet from some other computer some where else in the world.
if i can do that. that means said computer was never truly off(without electricity going thru it). that means even in hibernate mode, or sleep mode. its a wrap. if they want to spy on you using your laptop they will. like you said, tap over the camera and close that laptop so at least the mic is going to be a bit muffled. you can do the same thing for your kinect. they wont know if you throw a towel over it. i do it now with my regular kinect. for that very reason..JUST IN CASE we have a peepin tom hi jacking my xbox.
WAKE ON LAN DOESN'T TURN YOUR LAPTOP ON IF IT IS COMPLETELY POWERED OFF. ONLY IN HIBERNATE OR SLEEP MODE.
