clearly things need to be reimagined from how they are now.

hypothetically teacher hits a button or something on their laptop/computer. someone shows up to escort that student to the office, teacher tells the person who they're ejecting, boom.

the person who is escorting the student is more "trained" to deal with a student acting out than a teacher, who really shouldn't have to be prepared for some bad ass kid trying to fight them.

i hate that it has to be this way, but I can't really think of any other way to deal with the phone issue.

i guess the teacher could just wait to class is over and then request the student be banished/dropped from the course after class ends to avoid the whole fight.

then student gets put in some kind of detention/study period or some shyt during the block where they had the class they were kicked out of, I don't know.

these things are not my expertise, but students and teachers fighting over someones phone or nintendo switch being taken away is clearly not the answer.

I see where you are going but still disagree. You've been to school and know just as well as I do. All it takes is one student to be disrespectful to a teacher. In no time other students will say if he/she can get away with it so can I. I agree if your statement of telling them to leave the classroom but that open another can of worms. Say he told her to leave and she did. Later she gets hurt outside of the class. Who do you think will be liable because she was told to leave the class?

I don't think all students should be punished for a few fools. Suspension after x number of warning.

All I could imagine was teachers like this.

so the answer is status quo?

bad schools where kids can't learn because some kid with no respect for others ruins the educational environment?

Should be expelled for being a clown

ultimately she should be…many schools have a strict policy about spraying regular shyt in class (aerosols and shyt) due to ppl’s allergies…her spraying pepper spray in the hallway should result in an OSS at the least…possibly an expulsion depending on her reputation or any previous incidents

The way these kids are now, I'd probably come to school strapped but wouldn't tell anyone.

Gen Z kids are wayyyyy too froggy because our culture has gotten soft on handling kids and the kids know that teachers can't really fight back. Kid gets a slap on the wrist and the teacher loses their job, possibly career AT BEST....ends up in prison at worse. There's no mechanism to protect good teachers from violent students.

I went to private school during "high school." You had your phone taken in class if you were being disruptive or on it during lecture. You got it back after class and it was documented. The third time it was taken, your parent had to come and retrieve it from the principal. Fourth was an automatic suspension and you weren't permitted a phone on campus. Anything after that was possible expulsion. It never got that far for 100% of us during a calendar school year because we weren't idiots.

If your rugrat doesn't care about learning or school, then fine, but no educator should have to sanction their buffoonery for the sake of appealing to their -- and your -- stupidity. Honestly, it's not even the kids fault. As evidenced in this thread, this sort of ignorance is learned and it starts at home. If you can't stomach the thought of your petulant brat adhering to structure and having consideration of others, then keep them at home with you where that ignorance is celebrated. Those with common sense & home training aren't impressed or interested.

Put it back on the parents. If a kid shows up to school with a phone despite the no phone policy, the parents are notified.

If it happens more than 3X, it's an automatic one week suspension. If that same student is suspended 3x in a semester, there will be no fourth time. They will be expelled.

Simple. Remove the disruptive child from the environment and send a message to parents: "teachers are not there to do your job for you. If your kid can't act right, handle the situation"

Problem is too many administrators are cowards who throw their staff under the bus.

Then call the school and they'll fetch the student.
This is America where there’s shootings every other day. Not giving your child a phone is autistic.

She’s a child on school property, she has no rights. The cac is probably going to sue the school district on grounds of unsafe work environment, win some cash and move to a rich suburb where his talents are appreciated. He was likely only there because they promised to pay his student loans. The student will have a felony assault charge and likely be expelled all because her parents didn’t instill in her the respect for authority and educators. This will only hurt the district and the students who do want to learn as the school will likely have to cut costs to pay the lawsuit and raise the salary and benefits to find any teacher that will work there.

Look, If you don’t like the rules of civilized society you can form a commune and entertain all your ratchet spawn there. :yeshrug:
fukk off. My children have rights wherever they are.

Y’all love playing lawyer. If kids are allowed their phones on school property he has no “right” to take it.

Even if the district policy is that a teacher can confiscate a phone that does not mean it will stand up in court. Courts are not run by some school or district rule.

He also physically touched her and ran away from her because he didn’t want to have to answer to her. He is the adult supposedly in charge.

Also :mjpls: at the bolded.
