Exactly. And that puts teachers in these tough spots. Teachers shouldnt even have to do all that discipline with kids this age. They’re practically adults and are old enough to sit down and listen with their phones off without disrupting the class. And they should be intelligent and respectful enough to communicate if there’s an issue at this age. Most of this is parenting problems, or I guess lack of parenting. I’m not saying teachers are perfect but it’s completely wild to mace a teacher over a phone.

Like I said earlier, this is assault with a weapon. Yeah, they’re still doing an investigation because she’s a minor most likely, but I’ve seen females pepperspray other females and police went to old girls crib and arrested her.

Mace was given to her most likely because someone cared and is supposed to be only for protection… not to mace teachers.

The stupid takes from some of y'all in this thread ("what if the child is expecting an important call") is why I don't go back and forth with some of y'all, and I just tell you that you're an idiot and go on about my day.

The ONLY reason I'm against removing phones from the classroom altogether is because school mass shootings are a fact of life and a parent NEEDS a way to reach their child in that life or death emergency.

But the teacher reserves the right to take a phone due to unruly behavior and to set a certain tone in the classroom to facilitate a good teaching environment.

If anything, the parent should come down hard on the child for engaging in behavior that caused their phone to be confiscated. The teacher and the parent need to be on the same page.

Funny thing is you can count at least 5 phones in the first 10 seconds of the video. And maybe one jar of tree. Can’t confiscate every high schooler phone these days

If there's not accountability at home or you don't see that behavior modeled in your day-to-day it's going to be difficult to do it yourself. It's on the parents to do better.
