fukk Macklemore and fukk the Grammys. Us blacks haven't respected the culture properly in years and all of a sudden now we all care?
It's bigger than us not respecting the culture, a lot of forces are at play higher up that dictate what gets fed to the bottom. That said, black people did fail by not supporting the genre with sales, especially more positive acts. I'mfukk Macklemore and fukk the Grammys. Us blacks haven't respected the culture properly in years and all of a sudden now we all care?
so I still PURCHASE music from artists I feel deserve my support, you can find threads on here where nikkas are too cheap and used to stealing that they call you all sort of names for paying $10 month for spotify where you can listen to damn near anyone you can think up. Dollars count a long way, not just toward making artists rich, but also dictating what corporations produce. I find it so funny and pathetic that caucasians on the coli are admitting they are crakker ass crakkers and calling themselves cacs
mind blown

I didn't get that AT ALL.
Maybe i just skimmed it a little too much

wait...so are you reading more into it than what he's saying? You did.
He gave him his respect as an individual and as an artist and even went as far as to say that it's kind of unfair to him, but the bulk of that was really pointing out how he's being pushed as the lone voice against depravity in the history of hip hop. The problem is people saying shyt like this really have no grasp on the culture, like most "hip hop" authorities these days.
This part legit pissed me off. Cacs forever cacing. :camron:

how is it pathetic, i don't really give a shyt if you call me a cac
She just doesn't get it breh. Let her cook.

Cause it sounds more like a defense of him than in defense of the culture.
Macklemore is the first non-homophobic, non-violent rapper in the same way that Elvis was a ground-breaking initiator of the Blues.
Macklemore is getting unjust credit for being the "first" to make popular rap music with a message. "Oh, he doesn't insult the gay community? He doesn't demean women? He doesn't talk about shooting up the club? He must be the first of his kind!" Macklemore is unfortunately being turned into the rap Tim Tebow.
If you recall, Tim Tebow was an NFL phenomenon due to his college career, unconventional ability to win at the last minute and, most importantly, his insistence on relaying the message of his Christianity any chance he got. His rise was met with the same shortsighted praise, as the narrative surrounding his popularity was focused on his faith and the moral high ground, as if the NFL was a pit of ill repute and sexual assault cases.
Where the Macklemore-Tim Tebow comparison falls short is the fact that Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are very good at what they do. The Heistfeatures great songs, catchy, radio-friendly hooks and Macklemore's patented thought-provoking lyrics. Unfortunately, Macklemore's message of acceptance and understanding is being drowned out. Instead, he's being used as a sign post to paint the rest of hip-hop as a wholly negative influence on society.
