Skillz had some bars as usual but it seemed like he had a hard time staying on beat
He doesn’t rap that much anymore, probably hasn't since the last wrap up real talk. Cats get rusty but can still do it due to muscle memory. Quality/sharpness may suffer. It's liken to a boxer having fights after significant long layoffs in-between :ehh:

Skillz needs to rap more than once a year, so he can sound better and more on beat, on these.

This dude was an underground phenom when I was a kid. It's kinda sad that this is what people know him for now.
Young Skillz, when he was mad skillz, used to rip shyt...from where? Is still a dope album to me

Facts!

From Where??? is a personal classic, for me.

I still listen to his old freestyles with Lonnie B, from '95-'96. Skillz was really that dude. We thought he was gonna have a legendary career. I remember Q-Tip was taking him around to all the underground radio shows and saying he was next. So I'm not into the yearly Rap Up sh*t. He was supposed to be out here dropping classic albums.

He had some joints:

Just realized that's where Preem got that "ain't no fiends coming in between me and my dreams" vocal sample for Jeru's Me or the Papes :wow:

Skillz just had a style that was too early 90's. A lot of those guys got left behind when the late 90's kicked in and the more street era started.

No one ever talks about "Me or the Papes"!! That's one of my favorite Jeru joints! Ridiculously dope!

But back to Skillz. He said after his album dropped, that he didn't love rapping anymore. He had a lot of hype and buzz. Then the album came out and nobody copped it. I think that made him quit. He switched to deejaying and started claiming what everybody else who flopped claimed in the early 00's, that he was "ghostwriting".

But this joint here:

CLASSIC!!

Large Professor played this beat on Stretch and Bobbito in like '94, when he took his SP up there and was just playing random beats live. Then he gave it to Skillz like a year later, but it didn't make the album, lol. So they just left it as a b-side gem.
