Back in the day I swear Skillz use to sound like Big L

The first album def had some joints on it.

I'll check it out tomorrow
I always thought so too.

I also think from the SupaFriendz click, Danja Mowf had the best album. Though "From Where??"was hard too.

Wow, I think this is the literally the 1st time I've ever heard someone even mention that Danja Mowf album, on the internet or in real life. I used to like that album a lot, but it's been so long I can't even really remember what it sounds like. I need hunt that down and revisit it.

Not on the "modern rap map"
or the "cultural map"
They're very much part of the "Eastern seaboard breakbeat soundscape" that ends in DC.
Even NC wasn't part of the "southern" rap map until Petey Pablo.
VA? Didn't make stereotypically "southern" sounding rap (in any part) outside of Jo Doja...until around 2001-2002.
The rap map south began in SC and moved up to Maryland over time after people started trend-chasing.
Bmore was a "baby Philly" during the DVD era.
They also do the "urban street biking" thing...that wasn't part of southern culture until fairly recently.

Not on the "modern rap map"

"modern rap" is must that: hiphop as a movement was exported to the south and didn't didn't spring directly from its Southern roots like, let's say Dc GoGO did (black church, funk, jazz)

or the "cultural map"

Bmore has always been southern black culture historically for ADOS population

Take for example: Eubie Blake who was born in Baltimore in the early 1880s

Out of his own mouth:

in 1983, on being asked why his compositions contained so many sharps and flats] Down South where I come from you don't go around hitting too many white keys.

to be fair, most southern regions didn't have a distinct sound or scene outside of LA, Florida, Memphis and Texas until the late 90s/early 2000s in part because these regions have older musical genres and didn't care too much about hiphop.

All facts...nikkas wasn't listening to UGK heavy in VA until after "Big Pimpin" & "Sippin On Some Syrup"
