This is Hip Hop, Alc is the better Hip Hop producer for me.

Madlib maybe more musically inclined, gifted whatever, but when it comes down to it.

Alc is producing this

Quintessential rap records and while we all love this genre.

i always thought this song was overrated.

5 years ago I'd say Madlib > Alchemist... But I'll take Alc's quantity & quality of actual hip hop albums he's produced in recent years, over Madlib's scattershot compilations of obscure jazz samples he ain't even chop, mixed with skits that cover 70% of the record. Who da fukk listens to albums full of skits, breh? I hope Madlib can make a statement with this Gibbs album.

Alc has much better drums to. I go with Alc anyday. His sound is more polished.

Madlib is one of the GOAT no doubt. His crate digging skills are tremendous, but in terms of chopping samples to manipulate the pieces to sound completely diff, Al is the guy

Madlib is better.

Beat for beat, Al has more bangers but Lib is a genuine mad scientist. He's like the modern equivalent of a crazy ass jazz musician like Sun Ra or Monk. The way he creates unique soundscapes on his albums are almost unparalleled.

Al in recent years has produced a lot of dope albums but he's nothing on the level of The Unseen or Madvilliany.

I also feel Lib has heavily influenced Al's recent music. Russian Roulette wouldn't exist without Lib's Beat Konducta joints. The random samples, interludes and half baked dusty sound is pure Lib.
The thing about lib is that yes he has classics, but if you play back the original samples, 8/10 he's done nothing major. Most of the tracks on his beat condukta, the Brazil one he did NOTHING to the tracks. Even on Pinata, listen to the original samples, they're just loops.

A focused Madlib is :whew: but he does have some throwaways

Alc has been on fire since 2004 though:obama:

but I WILL say this.....Alc has yet to produce an entire project on the level of Madvillainy :sas2:

We could play this game all day, breh :manny:

We could list samples RZA and Dre flipped that were straight loops.

It is what it is. More than one way to skin a cat. This is Hip Hop. If you count out what Lib is doing, you count out 90% of great hip hop.

Plus just cause a producer chops a sample to pieces doesn't make it better. Less is more sometimes, plus Lib's crate digging game in UNPARRELLED.

And a lot of Al's early stuff (and arguably his best era) is very loop orientated.

Tough one..Alchemist has a better ear for samples I think but Madlib is more creative with the samples he uses. I'm a crate digger myself so I give the nod to Alchemist
