Madlib is better.

Beat for beat, Al has more bangers but Lib is a genuine mad scientist. He's like the modern equivalent of a crazy ass jazz musician like Sun Ra or Monk. The way he creates unique soundscapes on his albums are almost unparalleled.

Al in recent years has produced a lot of dope albums but he's nothing on the level of The Unseen or Madvilliany.

I also feel Lib has heavily influenced Al's recent music. Russian Roulette wouldn't exist without Lib's Beat Konducta joints. The random samples, interludes and half baked dusty sound is pure Lib.

Yeah Madlib is infinitely more creative.

Im not too big on the gangrene albums but im sure oh no influenced the shyt outta alchemist.

yeah. that's what i heard. seems likely. they both went HAM on wild eastern euro, trippy records around the time of their union. Plus, banging out 2 albums, an EP with Roc marc & another EP screams "WE ARE ON SOME shyt!!!!!" type camaraderie.

madlib has a classic album, not just classic beats. he has plenty of those too. if al never worked with the mobb, he wouldnt be as up there. and low key, his producer albums are throwaways compared to madvillainy. cant wait for cocaine pinata
