And some of yall don't like this part of the evaluation, but it's always mattered and been understood subconsciously by heads----->how many rings you won as a #1. The Culture has always subconsciously understood that this matters, otherwise Hondo and Pippen would be more highly revered...

Steph has 2 rings and 3 Finals appearances as a #1. This is alot, by the way, it's just Magic has more--->3 rings and 5 Finals appearances as a #1...

This is befire you get into everything else Steph trails Magic in and the fact Magic has more notable Finals moments. Those two things, success as a #1 and iconic moments in The Finals, are maybe the most important factors to anyone's All-Time resume...

It's not outta the realm of possibility that Steph catches Magic All-Time, but it's a long shyt. Magic played 13 years period, and really 12 if you take out the comeback year. Steph is loading Year 15. He's running outta time, just one more title/Finals run isn't gonna put him PAST Magic. He needs at least two more Finals runs to jump Magic...

Until then Magic remains the GOAT point and ahead of Steph All-Time. But to Steph's credit, he's solidly at #2 and creating some distance between himself and whoever we wanna put at #3, and it ain't no fukking overrated ass Zeke...

The three FMVPs also don't prove he was a #1 because we know for certain that Kareem was the #1 in 1980 and Magic still won that award.

I'm not saying he was never a #1 but you could at least argue it.

This argument has always boiled down to whether people value traditional PGs more.

Curry isn't the floor general on the Warriors, he's the GOAT shooter. Of course, he won't have as many assists if he's the one scoring. On the other hand, Magic didn't score as much as Chef.

Both were era-defining players too. It wouldn't be unfair to either of them to have them on the same tier without one being "better" than the other.


That competition only holds water when people call the likes of Chris Paul the GOAT PG. We know damn well he wasn't better than Magic.

No the FMVPs don't hold alot of weight, I didn't say they did. They don't...

The three league MVPs certainly hold a ton of weight as do being an MVP finalist for a decade...

Being the #1 usually aligns with scoring but not always. Russell never led the C's in scoring but he was undoubtedly the #1 during their 8peat...

LeBron didn't lead the '20 Lakers in scoring but he was pretty decisively the best overall player and it showed by the end of The Finals...

Cowens didn't lead the '74 C's in scoring but was 4th in MVP, the year after winning the MVP. There's a ton of examples here, most time the leading scorer is your #1 but it doesn't always happen that way...
