The big problem is that they need to stop treating the show like it's an NFL show. They try to do the quick hitting approach on every topic instead of actually having a true discussion on anything. So they only devote like a minute or two on every topic and then make sure that everyone has input on every single topic. So they just get like a sentence or two in before moving to the next subject.
Sage Steele is being offered the NBA Countdown host job. So it'd be Sage, Doug Collins, Simmons, Jalen, and Doris Burke every Wednesday.

bill simmons must have some dirt on people, cause they letting him have the show and do what he wants with it....and if the sage thing is true, he looking out for jalon....which explains why jalon acts like a lackey for him...seriously, their relationship comes off as the cool kid (bill) and the lackey willing to do any and everything to hang around the cool kid (jalon)...
..anyway, i dont mind doris, i like the way she talks about the game...and doug is cool...but got a feeling the show will be too straight laced and the moments jalon tries to make it livlier will come off as forced...for the most part, i'm stick to tnt and nba tv....would like to see magic make a few apperances on either show...the interactions with chuck and zeke would be great...

He was a great analyst for NBC. Him and Snapper Jones I believe were the #2 team there. Other thing is he gets hilariously off-topic during terrible games. He does Kings games occasionally and it's a trip to listen to some of the things he says between analysis of the game.
Simmons' exaggerated sense of self importance makes him come off like a smug jackass. He's actually worse than Bayless in that regards, he throws a hissy fit anytime someone in the press criticizes him.
...which is why he did an interview with Richard Deitsch of SI (Internet sportswriting ombudsman) just a couple days ago.
Sage will nice to look at every week, this cast is all over the place tho. You've got a potentially good moderator in Sage, a solid subject matter expert in Doug Collins, the rest of em

espn needs to stop playing musical chairs and also stop taking people out of their elements. doug collins is great at calling games. its different being in studio. bill simmons is a writer. not a studio guy. tnt has a foundation and when they add people, its usually a smooth transition.
so if Doug & Doris are in the studio & Chris Mullin is gone (thank the lord), who are ESPN's color commentators?
