The fact that he never beat Cody, Roman, Seth, or Punk during this reign says a lot about where he really ranks

Yeah, Jey Uso is not getting a long reign. I wouldn't be surprised if Gunther gets it right back by Money in the Bank.Win to pop the crowd, then get a quick 4 month reign before dropping it at Summerslam.

The Priest reign did absolutely nothing for anybody
Gunther reign pretty much the same
That belt is cursed
Despite the botches, the Priest reign got him over as a main eventer for me, but literally everything after his reign has been bland babyface except for his rematch build with Gunther.
The WHC is a hard problem to crack.
Can't put the belt on Roman because in kayfabe he should not want it. The WHC should repulse him. It was just a toy literally created to give his number 2s something to play around with while he was busy.
The only way he should win it is just because he's feuding with someone he hates and he wants to take it away from them and over time comes to love the belt and putting equity into it.
The only other ways to elevate the belt is to have it main event night 2 over the WWE belt and give it to whoever they see as the next FOTC. I don't see the next FOTC on the MR at the moment. Bron is not strong enough on the mic, Jacob is strong on the mic, but I don't see him doing the near constant media and charity rounds like Cena/Roman/Cody.
It'll probably be Oba or Trick.

They could've done Gunther vs punk at snme instead of jey uso.. but nah
SNME is nice to have from a business standpoint but I doubt the company is getting so much money that Hunter will actively factor SNME into his plans as far as title changes go and how they affect the build to Mania or SummerSlam.
So he's probably keeping that match for a top 4 PLE
However I will say jey needs to have that one defining promo without saying the word yeet and uce

I'll say though that right now his feud with Gunther is the weakest built atm
Even CHHHuck and Tiffany has had a better build and that's crazy.
They need to use Jimmy Uso now as a vehicle and make this feud personal to salvage the remainder of it.
