For me, the number one issue with Jey thus far is that the WWE has not done a good job of making me care about the 4th match of note he's about to have with GUNTHER. I have seen nothing that says "this time, it will be different" beyond the fact that it's happening at Mania, and GUNTHER's last go at Mania saw him lose a title to another man who he didn't take seriously.
GUNTHER, understandably so, is like "I done whooped his ass 3 times already, once for the strap and another time to go to the KOTR finals. Why do I have to keep going through this shyt when I've established I am better, especially when it matters" and Jey's response is to have doubts about whether he can do the job.
The second issue is that the WWE babyface wrestling style tends to rely on limited moves that the fans can see coming, so they know when to get on their feet for comebacks and shyt. Simple programming.
It is what it is.
