That's not what Maino's referring to. Maino's not taking some moral stance on shyt. he just wants the vibe to be what it used to be, where there were elements of the streets you feared every day and it created an atmosphere that was at least interesting.

The problem is that you can't have that energy without the danger that comes with it, and whether it was the mayor or people getting fed up, that vibe's not here for the most part and that's counterproductive to the hip-hop we're not accustomed to, but identify with. Gentrification is a motherfukker, but prosperity is cool. It's just kryptonite to a goon.
and you can blame the radio all you want, but it's not like there's 100,000 goons in NY listening to the same set of goons. Many of those motherfukkers aren't listening to those rappers either. They'd rather bump MMG. It's not like there's a bunch of hustlers in these streets listening to Prodigy /Alchemist or supporting A-Mafia (who IMO is the best rapper doing that NYC gutter shyt).
