Major League Soccer (MLS) agrees to 10-year, $2.5 billion TV deal with Apple; MLS games will no longer be on local TV

Is this good for MLS?

Ever since the Apple deal:

  • Its even more impossible to catch a game
  • The coverage is garbage
  • The hosts are unlikeable
  • The app is clunky and meh AF
  • The refs are still stupid
Just end this league so we can actually watch real Futbol like Premier or Bundesliga :francis:

Absolutely abysmal bro. These idiots spending half a billion on Messi like anyone even knows who that is here or people are gonna actually watch now. They shoulda spent that money putting up tents and fields all over the country and get an actual daily news show.

Apples MLB coverage is garbage too.

The AppleTV deal is worldwide. They are counting on the world subscribing to watch him. Not just the US.

They have and the return has gone flat relative the TV rights fees.
250 mil a year to broadcast this league seems like alot idk why. lol
but i wonder what apple will do to bring in subscribers and get to a breakeven point on this.
Messi will bring in numbers but idk if it will raise the global viewership enough

I’ve been an MLS fan since day one and at one point even had redbulls season tickets. My friend gave me a family pass for the mls package and I haven’t watched one match all season. In my eyes this is a disaster. I’ll probably fire up the app for Messi’s first game or something but more than likely that’ll be on FOX anyway. Garber should be fired for steering the league in this direction.

MLS is spring & summer while the Euro leagues play in fall and winter.
